  • We converted 51% of our FG attempts
  • We converted 58.3% of our 3pt attempts (7 makes)
  • Grooms scored 17pts & 10asts
  • Pledger scored 22 (w/5 3's)
  • We out rebounded Mizzou by 14
  • Opponent shot 55% from the FT line
  • Carl Blair hit a couple of 3's

And we still lost. :facepalm

You forgot a few stats. And they are the reason we lost.

1. We turned it over 16 times.
2. We missed 14 FT's.
3. Mizzou shot 56% from the field.

I think you are missing the point of the list.

OU should have converted the free throws and won the game. I don't think anyone disagrees with that. I don't think any of the players or coaches would disagree with that statement.

With that said, Grooms having a good offensive game is a huge for his confidence. If he can score 10 a game next season, OU will be an improved team. That does not even consider the impact of M'Baye or the freshman. Things are getting better. Don't give up on these guys because they have a chance to be good next season.

I would never give up on these guys, honestly I'm pretty excited about next season. I made this list as a way of saying if I told you those numbers and you didn't know the outcome of the game you would think that we won the game. But sadly because we were so bad on defense and at the charity stripe we lost. I like to think of if as a positive way of being negative "look at all these positive things we did" but wah wah we still lost.

The difference in a win or a loss for this team has been two or three key plays in the final minutes. They're that close to road wins at Cincy and ATM, and a win at home against #4 ranked Mizzou. We're seeing the improvements we all hoped we'd see.

Just not enough to put us over the hump. Will it come? I wish I knew the answer to that question. If these kids continue to work hard in practice and play hard in games, I have to believe these close losses will go in the other direction.

Ada, your point is very true. Improve team defense in the final 2 minutes of basketball games, and we are 16-7 (5-6 Big 12) with wins @ATM, @Cincy, and at home against Mizzou...

There's a good chance we could have won at home against ISU as well with better team defense down the stretch. Our offense has been more than good enough to win these 4 games.

I really didn't think the defense was that bad. Missouri is the No. 4 ranked team in the country and OU played them tough. Occasionally OU has break downs and gives up some easy stuff but I thought OU did a respectable job defending a team that is much better than they are.

This. Which means the Sooners' inexplicable performance at the free throw line was, in a nutshell, the reason we lost the game.

you cant let your opponent shoot 60% in the 2nd half and expect to win.
