Huge pickup (again) for the Cowboys.. Big 12 Newcomer of the year type of recruit.

Last year he was named the NJCAA Region 16 Player of the Year at Moberly (Mo.) Area Community College after averaging 22 points and 7.9 rebounds.

If they get Nash as expected, OSU could be putting together a final four, national championship contender type of team.

PG: Keiton Page
SG: JP Olukemi (#1 juco in nation. Ford said he will be their leading scorer this year)
SF: Lebryan Nash (#4 player in nation)
PF: Karron Johnson (#1 juco in nation)
PF: Darrell Williams (#13 juco in nation)

Ford is putting it all together in Stillwater right now.

Never happen. Too many JUCOs. ;)

Thats how ya win with jucos... get the best ones, mix them with the best high school talent. Don't just take the ones last second because you struck out on everyone else. Get the best early.

I'm sure you know I said that tongue in cheek. I have always been a fan of mixing JUCO players with high school kids, providing it's done to fill position needs and not out of desperation to fill scholarships. Time will tell which path to success OU took in recruiting with this year's class? But I'm more excited about newbies like Clark, Taylor, Newell, Neal, and the transfers, Blair and Osby. They're the future of our program.

I wish I could actually find any of these phantom rankings thrown out there for JUCO players in the class of 2011.

Looks like it was tagged wrong under football. Of interest:

#1 Ricardo Ratliffe- Mizzou
#2 Freddy Asprilla- KSU
#13 Darrell Williams- OSU
#26 Marquise Carter- Gonzaga
#27 DeMarcus Phillips- Iowa St
#28 Andre Almeida- Nebraska (6'10" 320!!)
#32 Nick Thompson- OU

OSU will definitely be stacking some talent. I wonder if LeBryan Nash (if he chooses OSU) and Karron Johnson can co-exist well. Johnson is a big-timer. The knock on him has always been immaturity/attitude. I've seen plenty of LeBryan Nash and his interest at times is a big question mark. He seems to bring it during the big games. But I wonder how coachable he is? Because there are games where he just seems like he doesn't care and gives minimal effort.

I think you can do fine with one talented guy like that. But if you have 2 or 3, you can have a chemistry disaster.

Karron Johnson being #1 is actually just an assumption on my part. He averaged 22 and 8 as a freshman and was a high profile high school guy. Pretty safe assumption.

Olukemi was going to be the #1 juco in the nation (and was rated as such by one service) then he graduated early and went to Stillwater.

Darrell Williams was the #13 guy in last years class.

I wish OU could land the type of juco talent that osu is.

Tell me something about those OSU juco? I havent had a chance to see them play. As for Karron Johnson, he's talented, that's never been in question. It's the beating up his coach and getting kicked off of his Juco team which have been the questions. I also don't know if that's a good sign in regards of Nash.

I know that in Tulsa the other day Ford said JP Olukemi is the most likely guy to be their leading scorer this year. Said he can shoot and slash, athletic, and can defend.

He said Darrell Williams is a really good rebounder and is going to get big minutes right away. He can shoot pretty well and has good size. Athletic, good rebounder, good shooter. He averaged a double/double for a 30-3 juco team that was one of the best in country.

Can you link me on Olukemi as I knew he was highly thought of but the best in the country is doubtful to me for some reason.

Also how are you sure JP can play the 2? This isn't NBA 2k11 where you can just plug in a 3 at a 2 and get away with it. On the lineup note, I would flip flop Nash and Johnson in the lineup.

On the other positive OSU front (makes me want to puke), DeAngleo Harrison from Houston is going to commit this Thursday and he lists OsU along with St Johns, Marquette and Baylor. If he goes to OSU they really could be rolling as the guy can stroke it from deep.

OSU lists him at 6'5'' 215, and Ford said he can shoot and slash. Probably their leading scorer this year. Seems like a good fit for shooting guard.

Attacking the rim with force and confidence as well as knocking down timely perimeter shots, JP would be an unsung hero that July in Las Vegas. However, the La Habra CA native would travel a different road to Division I status than the other teammates on that championship team, making a JC pit stop at Vincennes - averaging over 15 ppg (shooting 52 % from the field) and improving immensely over the course of his freshman year in 2008-09. Over this past summer, JP was outstanding at Jerry Mullen’s Top 120 JC Camp in July earning praise from the coaches and scouts present including national JC scout Mike Mitchell who pegged him as the #1 swingman returning to the JC ranks this fall

Its been reported by numerous sources that Olukemi was ranked the #1 junior college prospect in the nation by Mike Mitchell, who publishes the Midwest Scouting Service. However, we don't look for Olukemi to show up in the rankings of the top junior players this season due to the fact that he will graduate from junior college in December and enroll at Oklahoma State in January. In other words, this 6'6, 220-pound super athletic combo forward will sit out this year and have three years to play at the big time college level.

Yes, everyone knows teams like Kansas and Kentucky never win when they have more than 1 bigtime recruit on the same team.

Here in Norfolk, Va we had the pleasure of playing against Karron many times...He is a great talent, but has never finished a season....either High school or AAU. All of his teams seem to impload at some point or another.

It really has nothing to do with how talented they both are. Has more to do with sulking if the ball doesn't come their way which leads to breakdowns on defense, etc... It just takes a few lack of hustle/effort plays per game from your stars before the lack of effort becomes contagious.

If guys have big-time talent and buy into the team concept, you have no issues. My point is that you usually only have room for one prima donna per team. If you have 2 or 3 it is a recipe for disaster. I'd rather try the experiment than not try it don't get me wrong. Talent usually prevails.

Looks to me like Ford is a good recruiter as well as a good coach.

See: The 2009 Oklahoma Sooners.

I don't thing one about Karron Johnson, but if he has character issues, oswho can have him. We've had our share of those for years to come.

You must mean 2010, the 2009 edition did fine with just Willie Warren as Blake was clearly not a prima donna.

The dude has had so much turmoil around him, I'll believe he'll play for OSU when he actually steps foot on GIA for a game.

I agree that one head case per team is usually the limit if you want a good season. The one thing that OSU has going for them is they will have more returning leadership than OU did in 2010.
