There has been lots of criticism of KayKay(too many fouls possible attitude problem, lack of focus) but I can think of no other member of the team whose breakout year would mean more to this team than hers. I think she is seriously talented and cant explain why she hasnt played better but her ceiling is stratospheric.

I've never heard of KayKay having an attitude problem! This is how all the crap gets started on this board with all the innuendos and falsehoods running rampant!

We really need for Kaylon to be a dominant player. I don't if she can stop the silly fouls but I sure hope so.

How did Williams do in the last game of the season? The game she started against good opposition and got the majority of the minutes.

I talked to KayKay right after she had the achilles injury last year. She is as nice and friendly as she can be. I would think an attitude problem is something you will never see from this young lady. I think a lot of her fouling and lack of rebounding was still due to the injury. She never looked 100% to me. An achilles tear is very difficult to come back from. I think we will see a much better KayKay this year and a lot more healthy one.

I think the two major places criticism of Kay-Kay comes from is:

1. Watching her play. As some have noted, sometimes she's there, and sometimes she's not. Silly fouls that she doesn't learn from. Lack of intesity has seemed to be a problem for her. I think that's undeniable.

2. I think at the end of the season Sherri said something (I cannot remember what) about Kay-Kay's effort, thus identifying her as one of the girls that didn't focus and go at it hard in practice, which Sherri, herself, bemoaned (as did Morgan) all season long. Perhaps that was deduced from what she said. I can't remember that either.

I think Kay-Kay can be a lot better than she has shown. Next season will be her defining year, certainly. I hope she's on fire from the time practice starts in October. We need her to be.

Sherri has made it clear that she thinks Kay Kay is very talented. On paper, Kay Kay just didn't make a statement. There were glimpses of what could be, but there were absences. Kay Kay was the one person that we needed to step up last year, someone to grab the rebounds in replacement of Jo. This year, it would be nice if Kay Kay were to realize her potential. But, if she doesn't, I think Treece, Pierre-Louis, and Kellogg, now a sophomore, will inject some enthusiasm into board play. The future has to be now.

I don't think you can look at one game and conclude anything. Obviously Sherri was concerned enough about the center position that she added 2 more posts to the roster. She now has more options than she had last year which is a good thing.

Of course you would want to discount that game. It doesn't fit the storyline.

I don't know why William's situation is not resonating with so many of you. She suffered a severe injury. She missed an entire season. The injury set back her preseason conditioning. When this past season started she was no where near game shape or close to her optimal playing weight. She spent virtually the entire season playing herself back into shape.

When Sherri turned the position over to her for the last game and she responded well, it did mean something. That was her new starting point. She goes forward from there.

Sherri doesn't have any options. If either one of those freshmen, for some reason, end up carrying the load in the paint. It is big trouble. Another season of mediocrity and disappointment. When those two freshmen get to the practice gym, Williams will eat them up.

Are you suggesting that somewhere between the next to the last game and the last game, Kaylon was able to get herself into playing condition?

What I'm suggesting is that you an others are bad wrong on your opinion of Williams.

What I've said is, she plays well for a play or two then has a bad play or two. She also commits silly fouls and she needs to be more aggressive on the boards.

By the way Sherri limited her playing time, I would say it is highly likely she saw the same thing.

Kay-Kay was the ONE person Sherri singled out this season for not cutting the mustard last season.

That should tell you something.

This is what it tells me. Sherri spent the entire season blaming the players, the fans, and who knows who else for the sub par season. She never once took any responsibility and I got pretty tired of hearing it.

It wasn't just Williams. She took pot shots at several of them.

I think the season took its toll on everyone, Sherri and positive beacon of proton Kay-Kay included.

It became pretty clear after another Maddie ACL that we were going to be tanking fast out of the top 25. Suddenly, a team coming off a Sweet 16 was no longer in contention for the Big 12 (****ing Baylor) and might be a struggle to make the NCAAs.

I know that adversity is a time to see who has the highest character, but I think it would have annoyed us fans even more if she was like "Rah rah go team we so awesome only one Oklahoma!" though all of the losing and injuries.

Anyways, long post short, I have high hopes for Kay Kay, but even higher hopes for Maddie Manning. Two ACLs is not a career ender at the University of Oklahoma. It's a national award campaign carrot :D

This thread got seriously hijacked somewhere along the way.

garyeb2 is spot on about Coale not taking blame for the season thaey had. I have heard her blame players for losses. Kruger never does this. He does not blame players and always looks for something good to say about his players.

Since Kruger has been here, he hasn't won a single post-season game. Since Kruger has been here Sherri has won in the post-season. So what? Kruger this, Sherri that. Really flawed comparisons in my estimation.

I think both coaches are good for OU. Obsessing over whether Sherri twitters or who she blames for losses (I have heard her praise players over and over and give credit for players taking the team on their shoulders for a win) is getting repetitive.

I don't know of an OU coach who is perfect. Certainly not Stoops nor Kruger, nor Sherri. I do think if a player chooses OU other than for having been a lifelong Sooner fan it is most likely because of Sherri. This years class looks good to me and I for one am eagerly anticipating the up-coming season.

Just my opinions.
