Kelvin, come home.

I'd rather make the tournament every year and have a team that leaves it all on the floor every night. I couldn't care less about his phonecall scandal, nor his off putting personality. I like winning. Consistently.

We differ

The notion that Sampson is some horrible cheater is absurd. His offense was too many telephone calls. When he called a kid and they said can’t tslk now, he did not count that as a contact. OU self reported and set him up. They did not tell him to stop counting that way. Then the NCAA counted calls for years and acted like it was a massive scandal. To me that is nothing.

Well he got in trouble for something at OU and then went ahead and did it again at Indiana and got fired. There’s a BIG problem there. Bad attitude an I can do what I want attitude. Don’t ever want that or him again.

And I remember everyone complaining about him constantly on this board about him.

I don’t care about the NCAA’s opinion.

I like getting better and being better at the end of the season than the beginning. thats my standard for success.

Congrats to Kelvin, Kellen, Hollis, and Quannas! Houston's first tourney win in many years.

Sampson is a good coach. I guess he’s the best OU could ever do with their half hearted support of the program. Lon will ride out his $3 mil/yr for as long as he can, which will be a long time because nobody cares about basketball at OU.

Yes, I'm happy for the four of them. When I put together my NCAA Bracket every year, I genuinely pick the team I think will win, not necessarily who I'm rooting for. I picked both Rhode Island and SDSU. Sadly, I thought Rhode Island was the easiest pick in the 1st round outside of the top-3 seeds. As for SDSU, I only picked them because Kelvin struggles badly in toss-up games in the 1st round. That's his history, not my imagination. Still, I'm genuinely happy for him, and glad I have a team to root for on Saturday. I'm not sure Houston fans really knew how good of a coach they were getting four years ago - but they do now.

Joe C and OU will NEVER hire him because of his history. Again, cheating at OU and then Fired from Indiana for cheating again. That’s why the only decent job he could get was at Houston where they would rather win and be in the cross hairs of the NCAA than have someone running the program that is clean and honest.

Again, if anyone decides to be honest, this board consistently killed Kelvin and hated him his style his early exits from the tourney etc etc etc. The board 95% hated him

Give me a break.

Houston hired Kelvin b/c they needed somebody that could build a program, would stay around long enough to actually see that through, and somebody that could win once he got things turned around. Didn't hurt that Kelvin was already working in the area at the time. It was a great hire for them. They are not a high profile job, so they couldn't just go get anybody.

I'm not much of a "looking in my rear view mirror" person. Kelvin did a terrific job at OU, but only a small percentage of fans would want him back. However, to say that 95% hated him is way, way off the mark. I would say closer to about 5-10% wanted him gone because of the early round NCAA exits...Would that percentage have gone up if he stayed after probation? Of course, but there isn't any metric that would get you anywhere close to 50% much less 95%.

I would say it was MUCH more 5-10%. But it may be a case of the haters just being more vocal than the other fans (the same happens on the football boards -- the 247 one at least, where negativity rules the roost).

And it wasn't just the early exits -- they *****ed about the offense just as much.

It's beyond ironic to see Kelvin being praised so much of late on this board.
