kim mulkey

Would like to make the obvious point- This is why Sherri doesn't get frantic during big games. The players respond the way their coach is responding, in this case they lost their dang minds. I hear it after every Baylor game, Why is Coach Coale not off her chair yelling and screaming. She is trying to keep her team composed.

Oregon State is a good team tho, no question about that. Baylor had better players, but Oregon State is a good team

99.9% of coaches DON'T act like that! Tell me when you've seen Muffett McGraw act like that? Tara Vanderveer? Karen Aston?

I've seen Sherri get on her team and on officials too! Vivi got smart with her at an early game this year and I thought Sherri was going to jump in the middle of her. Most people who make those comments don't attend the games because it's not shown on TV.

Kim's intent is to intimidate, players, officials, fans, media, anyone she thinks she can!

l remember seeing Kim play for LaTech but I don't remember what the LaTech coach was like. Was he an out of control kind of coach? Is he still an assistant at Baylor?

Unfortunately, she has owned the Big 12 for a number of years now. I am not in any way "praising" Kim Mulkey. That is just the reality of it right now. Obviously, I hope that Sherri and OU get back to owning the conference.
The one thing I will say about Kim is that she seems to get the most out of her players.

I remember them playing as well and don't remember anything like that. I don't even think she was like that as a player.

He finally fully retired (Leon Barmore) a few years ago. I want to say it was after the last NC (Griner's junior year), but not totally sure.

I think she was a Manson Girl, in a previous life. That seems to be her personality these days.

Maybe for most part Kim gets most of players but did she tonight Seemed kids just ignored her in last 3 min - Baylor closed gap by full court pressure I saw her yelling at end get up get up no one picked up till half court in last 3 min - was that players rebelling not sure just surprised they didn't continue the full pressure

They were out of timeouts fairly early. Kruger's philosophy seems to be to develop his players so they can solve problems without a timeout - it drives some of the posters crazy. It seems the Baylor players needed a time out to regroup and didn't have one.

I saw Nina Davis look like she was talking back during a timeout. How do u think she feels when Mulkey gives Alexis Jones the last 2-3 shots? How do u think PJ Brown in the stands feels about Ruth Hamlin having 4 fouls for 8 minutes and you don't throw the ball to his kid down there once? Ended up altering the last 3-4 shots. Think he isn't talking to his daughter about how dumb the coaching was? Think she brings a positive attitude to the team? How about everyone else on the team going into the offseason knowing their coach cost them their season? that was easily the second most talented team, under perfomed...

Add on top of that, you don't have your stabilizer Niya Johnson all off season and next year- Baylor lost two games, one to OSU without her and one where Niya struggled some- the coach panicks and lets another player completely run the team. That player being the ball dominant guard Alexis Jones, she'll be surrounded by a bunch of other players that want that same ball. Good luck with coaching that-- Geno and Pat are the only two who have pulled it off, I don't think she understand personalities enough to do the same.

To keep it going- Add on top of that you have 3 good young post players who potentially got recruited over for Lauren Cox... How do you think they are feeling?

Where do you think this team's psyche is next year? A lot of egos to manage, all her players have been told they are the best since they were thirteen. All of them are gonna turn on sportscenter and see the women's Bob Knight losing her mind. (Maybe thats too complimentary?) My prediction is everyone starts looking out for themselves and they finish with a few more regular season losses, and about where they did in the tournament- or worse.

The beginning of the end is hopeful thinking, but also a potential reality.

When she throws fits then I refer to her as 'Lil Kim'

I noticed that. After a score she was on the court telling them all to get up and press and the camera would pan out and they were all down on the other end of the court. Maybe her threats don't scare them???

I give credit to Oregon St. they are good and the better team tonight. Kim did not lose this game for us, even though her sideline behavior was embarrassing, it was lost at the free throw line. We were 6-14! I knew sooner or later that would catch up with us in a close game. OSU had a great game plan in slowing the pace keeping the ball for almost entire shot clock waiting for back cut to develop. They didn't allow us to get out on in transition and in a track meet which is our strength. They were very mythodical and showed poise. Our youth in the post was on full display not knowing how to switch off screens or positioning to rebound. Also didn't help that Wallace and Prince combined for a single point! Best of luck to the Beavers. Glad they made it for the first time!

As for next year, I think we will be just fine with Jones at the point. She doesn't see the floor as well as Niya but she CAN score and reminds me of another lefty that didn't have a problem being the floor general her senior year!

It was a good game. OSU was patient and adjusted...forcing Baylor to play into the hands of OSU. Great strategy that I'm sure all of the Big 12 was taking note of. Also, it might be a lesson learned for Mulkey to avoid the arrogance until the dance is over. She was a little over the top when stating that President Obama was wrong to select FSU over Baylor. She was gloating just a little excessively. He wasn't too far off on his bracket.

Kim and BU were an embarrassment to the Big-12. Her antics have no place in WBB, and I was disappointed that the team did not play well. I guess (as someone else posted) "Eight was enough" after all - or maybe even too much. ;)

The way they played in this game perhaps they should have been a 5 or 6 seed.

In all seriousness, what is the "Throw the jacket" stuff all about? Is it an orchestrated act, or is it honestly an emotional outburst? Who would do something that silly? And why throw a jacket of all things? It is strange behavior. Very strange........

She's trying to imitate Kelvin. She just doesn't realize 2 things:

1) He always tossed it to a manager.
2) He always tossed it within a few minutes of tipoff, not because he was throwing a temper tantrum.

You guys can ***** and moan about Mulkey and her antics (which certainly are Ultra Type A), but i think most of that is just jealousy that she and her teams own the Big 12 and every other coach in it and that will change when she dies probably.

As Harry Truman said once about Republicans: "I'm going to win this election and I'm going to make them like it!"

Well, that's what's she's done in women's basketball. Xs and Os she's better than anyone else in the league and one of the best in the nation not named Geno. She wins. She's demanding. SHe's fiery. She's embarrassing. She's a *****.

And Vince Lombardi was a dick. And Red Auerbach was an a##hole and they are being remembered FOREVER. Gene will be remembered FOREVER. You think he's a sweet guy? Doesn't seem like it to me.

It is what it is folks, and the only thing that's going to make us feel better is having a team that is going to consistently beat them and a coach that accepts nothing but greatness and 100 percent and one who is willing to try other things when things aren't going well year after year.

I can't speak for anyone else but my comments about Kim have nothing to do with jealousy. My opinion of Kim is based upon the fact that I'm a Mom of girls who used to play basketball. I look at every coach I see and think to myself, "Would I want a daughter or grand-daughter of mine to play for this coach?" I see a lot of coaches that I would like to have a relative of mine play for. Kim does not fall into that category.

You have to keep in mind that It was Os team and that Davis was a big surprise that year... Jones doesn't seem like a kid who can take 12+ shots a game and still get the ball to Davis and Now Cox... It's a reason why she never played point guard at Duke.

When I saw Davis get mugged and nothing was called I couldn't blame Mulkey for ripping off her Jacket, I personally like it when a Coach gets a T it normally fires a team up.... Even Geno at times has lost his cool and CD has had to grab him and hold him back...
