kim mulkey

You guys can ***** and moan about Mulkey and her antics (which certainly are Ultra Type A), but i think most of that is just jealousy that she and her teams own the Big 12 and every other coach in it and that will change when she dies probably.

As Harry Truman said once about Republicans: "I'm going to win this election and I'm going to make them like it!"

Well, that's what's she's done in women's basketball. Xs and Os she's better than anyone else in the league and one of the best in the nation not named Geno. She wins. She's demanding. SHe's fiery. She's embarrassing. She's a *****.

And Vince Lombardi was a dick. And Red Auerbach was an a##hole and they are being remembered FOREVER. Gene will be remembered FOREVER. You think he's a sweet guy? Doesn't seem like it to me.

It is what it is folks, and the only thing that's going to make us feel better is having a team that is going to consistently beat them and a coach that accepts nothing but greatness and 100 percent and one who is willing to try other things when things aren't going well year after year.

+1

Nobody hated Marsha Sharp. As far as I know, nobody disliked Conradt or Ceil. I have yet to hear anyone go after Muffet McGraw. For the most part, all I see of comments about Geno is that he is an excellent coach who gets the most out of his players. Pat Summit?

So, tell me again how it is jealousy when someone despises Kim Mulkey.

Thank you for making my point. She's no different than those others --except she is more demonstrably emotional during a game.

The indignation of some BU fans at the tech after the jacket throw was cute (click the link in my sig; i quoted a few of them).

I think the refs are tired of her crap and enjoyed having a legit tech excuse. She's gonna have to watch her tantrums a bit more next postseason :D

Some coaches go overboard such as Mike Stoops. Bob even comes unglued at times. Billy and Kelvin gave refs a piece of their mind on more than one occasion. Does that make them bad people or horrible coaches? Of course not. Kim should do a better job controlling her emotions but she is who she is so I doubt she will change much until she retires. Baylor will continue to win at a high level as long as Kim is their head coach.

If it were only emotional outbursts during a game, I think a lot more people could overlook it. Take, for example, the incident at then end of Duke/Oregon men's game last week. In case you missed it, the shot clock was winding down at the end of the game and Oregon had it won. An Oregon player threw up a 3's from 30 feet and it went in. Coach K took it upon himself to lecture the player in the handshake line. A similar situation arose when Nyeshia Stevenson was a freshman. Shot clock winding down, OU has the ball and will win the game, Ny threw up a 3 which didn't go in. Kim berates Sherri about it during the handshake line. The difference in the two situations is that Coach K issued a public apology. Kim? Silence.

My second example comes from DRob's senior year. The Big XII Championship All Tournament team was full of Baylor players. Kim chose to use her post game press conference to complain about DRob being on the All-Conference team instead of one of her players. When have you ever heard of another coach being so classless? I'd really like to know. You would think her emotions would be under control at that point, but I guess not.

I could go on, but you get my point. No, it's not just things she does in the heat of the moment during games and no, it's not jealousy

I've heard a lot of coaches in different sports whine and complain when their star players don't get recognized or win awards.

I just think some of you go overboard on the hatred and I believe we wouldn't have as much griping about her if we were kicking their tales at least some of the time instead of being their muddied door mats.

Coach K only apologized when he was caught in a lie by CBS Sports a couple days later. At first, he denied saying what the Oregon player said he told him. CBS showed an audio of it a couple days later and the player was telling the truth.

And there you have it. Geno has been pretty caustic at times too. But not throwing your coat jacket mad.

Better late than never. Kim's attitude seems to be I don't have to apologize to anyone for anything.

No one knows what conversations Kim and Sherri may have had in the days after that game. Maybe Kim did apologize. Since they both seem to still be friends I suspect Sherri has forgotten about it.

I've seen evidence they are civil. That's not the same thing as being friends.

Kim Mulkey, as Jenny Carlson and Michele Voepel stated, has taken women's basketball down a road that it had been trying to avoid. We have specified item after item on which Kim Mulkey and Baylor exhibited outrageous behavior of a type that no other school or coach has exhibited, at least in the women's game. Jealousy? Nonsense. I would love to play Notre Dame and Connecticut every year, even if we never found a way to beat them. It would mean that we are competing with the best as they use legitimate terms. I would hope that we would try to improve to their level.

I hope that we never do anything that suggests Kim Mulkey. Want to get me to think negatively about the OU women's program? Hire Mulkey to replace Sherri. I would never darken the door of OU again.

Exactly! I wouldn't expect anything less from Sherri!

Pokey probably wouldn't agree either!

I haven't been a women's basketball fan that long, other then Pokey Chatman what coaches have openly said they have a problem with Kim?

I'll take that but, Jeff and Kim are expected to have bad blood after the last game the 2 schools had... Depends on how you feel but Walz is one coach willing to do anything to win... Just look at how many kids he recruits each year knowing he won't have the numbers... He even recruited and signed a player who everyone knew wouldn't get to play in a Power 5 conference just because he wanted her teammate, when the player he wanted picked another school he told the other kid she better look else were for playing time...

1. I'm sure Sherri hasn't forgotten that ridiculous situation involving Stevenson. She just won't stoop to Skeletor's level in rehashing it.

2. It SO pisses me off that people who don't know me, try to interpret "what I really mean" when I say I can't stand the raisin-faced witch from Waco. I didn't like her when we were laying beatdowns on them with some regularity. And I'd never be jealous of someone like her, because she's a bigger loser in the game of life than most people will ever be.
