KSU...I hate you...but you could...

I've always been a fan of court storming. But that got out of hand. One of the k state fans hockey-checked a KU player in the back as he ran on. That is unacceptable. Seeing that makes me want that stuff completely banned.

I think Traylor showed alot of restraint by not knocking that punk into next week. Check out the video.

He'll get over it. I've had the post game show on. Three hours of crying. I wish i could have taped it.

There is no reason jack an opposing player like that.

What is interesting is a KSU guy gets bumped almost as hard at about the same time. It is all about intent. One bump was about shoving Kansas' face in it and the KSU bump was a celebration, but the contact was about the same.

As Grantland's Mark Titus put it:

Here’s my official stance on court-storming for anyone who hasn’t already heard it: Who gives a ****? There should be no rules. I support court-storming on the road. I support court-storming after losses. If Kentucky played Florida A&M tomorrow at home, won by 100, and UK fans stormed the court, I wouldn’t flinch. It’s my dream to one day see a student section storm the court after every game, no matter the circumstances or outcome. I’m so against court-storming rules that I feel guilty for saying there shouldn’t be rules, because saying there shouldn’t be rules feels like a rule.

I'm not opposed to fans celebrating after a big win, as long as it's controlled, and above all safe. The scene at K-State was anything but controlled or safe. It was downright dangerous for every man, woman and child on the court at that time.

After watching the end of that game on television and in video clips, I have to ask, Why weren't K-State officials better prepared to deal with the crowd? Why weren't the security personnel more visible? In the video clip stormspencer posted, I didn't see anyone who looked like they might be in charge of crowd control, except a couple of suits who didn't appear to want to soil their shirt and tie.

One thing is sure, this incident is almost certain to bring about changes to prevent future scenes like this. It's getting too much national attention for it to be swept under the rug. Here's an ESPN article and video:

One time, after a BIG Sooner basketball victory, I actually hurled my ascot onto the court!:woot

That kid is actually fortunate because Traylor is a big man and was already likely upset about losing. When you take a shot at a guy that is already emotional you invite a reaction.

I agree that Traylor showed restraint and sportsmanship to simply do nothing.
