So who knows anything about KSU. I know they have the worst record in the Big 12 at 8-7. They have losses to Long Beach State, Arizona, Pitt (70-47), Tennessee, Texas Southern, Georgia and OSU. The losses to Long Beach State and Texas Southern really stand out. Long Beach State is 6-10. Texas Southern is 5-10. Their best wins are probably A&M, TCU and Bradley.
Williams, Gipson and Foster all average in double figures. Outside of those guys they don't seem to have much consistent scoring.
OU should have a size advantage. Williams and Gipson are not very big going 6'5" and 6'7". They appear to get the bulk of the post minutes. Nobody on the team averages more than 4.9 boards per game. I think OU might be able to hurt these guys on the glass and in the paint.
I look for Tayshon Thomas to have a big game. If Spangler can pull a post player out and let Thomas go one on one against a 6'7" or 6'5" defender, it could be long day for KSU defending the paint. They have 35 blocks on the season compared to 68 for OU.
About the only advantage I see for these guys is they shoot at a higher percentage as a team than OU on all shots and 3 point shots. OU is shooting .443 while KSU shoots .458. OU is .336 from three and KSU is .373. However this advantage is offset dramatically by the percentage given up. KSU allows opponents to shoot .456 from the field and .342 from three while OU only allows .356 and .280. KSU averages 66 points a game and gives up 63. OU averages 73.6 and gives up 58.9
I see this as a bit of mismatch. OU is clearly the better defensive team. OU has a notable size advantage. OU will have home court. Finally, OU seems to be having fun this season. I don't watch KSU much but I doubt they are having much fun at 8-7.
One other thing, OU shoots free throws much better. OU shoots .741 from the line. KSU shoots .668
