Let’s hope this helps in multiple areas!

Bryce Thompson #1 reason

Man you'd have to think it'll hurt them with any elite recruit. As slowly as the NCAA moves, this is unlikely to be resolved till long after 2020 kids sign.

We all know there is ZERO chance the NCAA would do anything substantive to one of their cash cows. UNC was caught blatantly cheating and nothing.

Don’t ruin my buzz

The NCAA has given severe sanctions to a couple programs that have combined to win several national titles over the past two decades, so no need kill that buzz just yet. :) UNC wasn't a basketball-related scandal, so that's not the best comparison.

But the investigation being dragged out really hurt their recruiting. Kids not knowing when sanctions could come makes them scared it could happen the year they attend.

The NCAA is about to be sued out of existence if they try.

Typical, arrogant KU fan! Does this idiot really believe the NCAA is afraid to drop the hammer on his Jayhawks? Nothing would please me more than to see them finally get what they deserve!!

USC is a good comparison. A Trojan fan on the OUInsider board several years ago said his school would never be sanctioned because they were too important to the NCAA. He bragged about it, even guaranteed it would never happen.

That was before the NCAA hit USC with some of the harshest penalties ever for a major sports program. The Trojan fan never came back to face the music.

Maybe we’ll be lucky enough to see it again!

being local to the hawks...nothing would please me better...but I'll believe it when I see it

Gassnola testified that KU coach Bill Self was not aware of the payments.

As a result of that trial, De Sousa was given a two-year NCAA suspension. Kansas appealed the second year of the punishment and the NCAA reinstated De Sousa, who is allowed to play this upcoming season. Preston never played in a regular season game for KU.

nothing more will happen

The De Sousa sanction was pretty darn severe. I can't think of another kid who has had to sit an entire season for a similar situation. Look, there's no one on the planet who hopes they get hammered if/when major violations are proven more than I do. I just don't buy into the theory that the NCAA never punishes the big boys. It's just not factually true.

In the release today, they said during closing arguments bill self was directly involved in requesting payments to players. He directly asked for payments to a player.

I have no doubts bill self and KU have been cheating since he was hired. KU has been cheating for 40 years.

I have serious doubts the ncaa will do anything substantive. There will be an attempt to make it look like the ncaa cares about fair play and then, maybe a slap on the wrist. Even in the face of damning evidence, the ncaa will let KU walk. They cheated. They’ve been cheating for years and they get away with it. But by all means, the ncaa doesn’t hesitate punish OU for freaking text messages.

It’s all a farce and the ncaa has ZERO integrity.

It made me smile. Anything less than a ban to the Big Dance for the following season, not this season, will be a win for Self.

c'mon Wichita....I know you've been on here a long time. ku has a LONG list of very questionable actions since Self has been there...NOTHING ever done.

KS text too many times or wrong times and we get a 'ship reduction.

I'm not saying the ncaa sits around and says "we can't hit team x big, it's bad business" BUT ya can't tell me they are not influenced by things. The blue bloods bring in a TON OF $$ via TV/tournaments/etc...it's on the table.

I don't trust the NCAA to do the right thing but the man testified Self told him to get the players for him. Even if Self says he wasn't meaning money you can't have people who aren't on your staff recruit players or their reps.

Regardless of what happens with KU, is this noise enough to sway Bryce to OU?
