Ku and major violations

Regardless of what happens with KU, is this noise enough to sway Bryce to OU?

Hopefully he was/is already leaning our way. Even if it was a tossup, you'd think it would have to sway him. As another poster noted, UNC's recruiting really suffered for a number of years while they were investigated. If a kid plans to only go to school for a year or two, I can't imagine choosing a school who may be facing the possibility of sanctions of some kind.

Since the preseason is all about optimism let's go ahead and transfer Jalen Wilson to Oklahoma while we are at it.

If the NCAA is doing their job, KU will be completely destroyed. However, if the NCAA does what they always do with people like KU, they’ll let those cheaters off with a stern warning if they promise not to do it again.

3 years ago an AAU coach in the DFW area told me that Kansas, TCU and Texas Tech were cheating and the other Big12 schools were clean. No idea what is going on today but Beard and Dixon had just taken the jobs. He said cheating happens in these situations.

1. A coach at a pressure cooker job like Kansas where if you miss the tourney, you are going to get fired.

2. A new hire that feels pressure to get things rolling quickly.

3. A coach on the hotseat that might take risks to keep a multi-million job.

4. A coach who just cheats everywhere/anytime like a Stansbury at Western Kentucky

How do you explain Louisville and UConn? Or Kansas itself getting a postseason ban the year after winning the title under Larry Brown? The NCAA is a mess and it won't shock me if they don't have their ducks in a row, in which case KU might get away with whatever they did. But if they are interested in protecting programs like KU, why would they come after them in the first place?

If this sticks and KU gets the hammer dropped on them, I wonder how that will shift the balance of power in the Big 12. I would certainly hope the reign of KU will come to a halt and other teams (OU) can step up to fill the void. Makes me even more excited to see the young talent that we have acquired this year.

Lack of institutional control and Self implicated according to news coming out of Lawrence. They aren’t getting a wrist slap now.

ESPN is reporting this too, only they’re saying Self has been chargedwith institutional control violations and KU has been notified of the Level I charges mentioned in the Yahoo Sports article.

This is looking more and more like the real deal to me!

We will not fill the void as long as our fans refuse to support basketball.
Tech/Iowa St may benefit.
More likely, the top players that would have gone to KU will just end up at Duke/UK/UNC.

In state talents like Thompson are even more likely to come here though.

Well, Tech came out of nowhere and was suddenly in the final four, so cheating makes sense. Poor TCU is cheating and still isn’t very good. There have been stories of blatant Kansas cheating for decades, but no one does anything.

I remain cautiously optimistic. I haven't forgotten that the combination of Sampson's phone calls (which today would have been mostly fine) and the $3,000 loan Gallon took (and Taliaferro didn't report) got OU 3 years of pretty onerous probation.

What will a systematic buying of recruits/paying players that the coaches/assistant coaches not only knew about, but encouraged, warrant? If the NCAA wants to be anything other than a complete joke, it should mean that if KU fields a basketball team at all, it will be manned primarily by walk ons for about 4 or 5 years.
