Lattin Family ESPN article

I didn't know that Big Daddy averaged a triple double with 29 points, 19 boards and 13 blocks a game as a senior. That is freaking crazy. Think how good Spangler is averaging around 10 and 10. This guy was basically tripling his points, doubling his rebounds and just for the hell of it adding in 13 blocks a game. You almost have to wonder if those numbers are accurate they are so amazing.

I'd be ticled pink if Khadeem could average just 1/3 of his grandads gaudy senior numbers during his frosh campaign at OU.Think about it- 10ppg,6rpg,4bpg.

that really makes me sad that Don Haskins has passed away. He would have LOVED talking about Lattin and what he could do at OU. very sad.

I remember when Big Daddy Lattin was drafted by the San Francisco Warriors back in 1966. We lived about 25 miles from where they played (it was the old Cow Palace in south San Francisco) back then.

When the movie "Glory Road" came out a few years back, I read a story where David Lattin wanted to play himself in the movie. Never mind that he was about 60 years old at the time. He still thought he could do it.

Nice read! Thanks for posting, max12!

I believe time will prove that OU got one heck of a steal in signing Khadeem Lattin. He's an impressive young man in an interview, too. Being from a good family will serve him well in meeting the goals he's set for himself.

So what are the best numbers ever posted by a college player? That has to be close.

For a comparison:

Blake Griffin averaged 22.7 points, 14.4 boards, 2.3 assists and 1.2 blocks per game his best season.

Wayman's best year (by points) was 27 points, 9.7 rebounds, .7 assists and 2.2 blocks.

King's best year was 26 points, 10.1 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 2.3 blocks.

Wikipedia says the Big O averaged 33.8 points and 15.2 rebounds for his career and had 10 career triple doubles.

It's hard to remember Stacy King being that good. He was a beast, no doubt, his senior season, but I really didn't remember him having those kind of gaudy numbers. WOW!

I have the DVD of Glory Road starring Josh Lucas as Haskins and a favorite, Emily Deschanel (Bones) as his wife. Jon Voight plays Adolph Rupp.
