Lattin Stats

The kid definitely needs sometime with Yo-Yo, but he has much better handles than I expected.

I thought the same thing, this guy could be a potential mismatch and will fit in incredibly well in our up-tempo game. OOPS FOR DAYS!!!!

You are an expert at the thinly veiled dig, aren't you?

In Boca's defense, I see that more as a compliment than a dig. I like Austin's game. He's not great at anything at this point of his career. But he does a lot of things well for a skinny guy his size who is usually more awkward than agile.

If Lattin can bring some of Austin's strengths to OU, I'll be happy.

If CLK had Austin for as long as Drew has had to develop him, Austin would be a 1st AA type player and a lottery pick.

Without Austin, Baylor gets blown out today.

If dna has anything to do with it, young Mr. Lattin has the body potential. I saw "Big Daddy" Lattin play in college against my OCU team and he had the muscle and the hops of a big time player. He wasn't as tall as our recruit.

On what planet would comparing a 3 star borderline top 100 recruit with a 5 star consensus top 5 recruit be considered a slight?

Because I've seen Austin play a number of times and don't have much respect for his overall game. His skills are there, but he just does not have the motor to back it up.

43% shooting for a skilled 7'1" guy is silly. He should be dunking everything around the rim.

Much like recent Texas football, skill without proper coaching or strategy is wasted. If Austin had gone to say Louisville, Pitino coaching and offensive philosophy would have him at an early first-rounder. Some kids look at coaches and decide to play for the guy they can most relate to and not the guy that can best develop them.

Coach Kruger expects him to play a bunch and maybe start next year. He thinks defensively he will be a big impact for us. Offense still needs work but they think he has potential on that end as well.

vbdad, what do you hear as the expectations for McNease? Contributor next year? And Buford?

Buford starts IMO but lattin could. I think jamuni RS.

That is the way I see it, but if somehow Lattin comes in as the better player, maybe they start Latton alongside Spangler.

My preference would be to start Buford, and let Lattin bring his defense off the bench. He can still play A LOT of minutes as our first big off the bench.

Has anyone seen a video of McNease? What are his stats? Kruger has a way of bringing frosh along.

I too see some very good skills for a big man in the video. Good touch at least out to 10 feet. And appears to run the court well as most of Kruger's recruits do.

I would not be surprised to see Lattin as the starter next year. Buford is probably good but playing the 4 he is just a less experienced Clark if as good.

We need more size in the lineup at times and Lattin may be better than Bennett who should also help a lot next year.

I think I would rather start defense and bring offense off the bench

It is my understanding that Buford is more ready to play right now. It would be hard to guess which of the two will be more ready to play in 9 months. I think that is a near certainty that Lattin ends up better than Bennett and Buford ends up being more consistently good than Cam. But, once again, it would be hard to predict when their development intersects with Bennett and Cam's abilities.
