Lattin Stats

I think I would rather start defense and bring offense off the bench

I just prefer the smaller lineup if we are going to run. I know gary said the other day that the staff wanted to get bigger inside, and would consider starting Spangler at the 4 and Lattin at the 5, but to me, that changes the entire complexion of our team. Even if Spangler makes some improvement this offseason in terms of shooting range and mobility, he still likely won't be on par with guys like Clark and M'Baye. The 4 out, 1 in thing has worked pretty well for us this year. Woodard and Hield become easier to guard next year, IMO, if you have both Spangler and Lattin on the court at the same time.

But one thing I'm learning is not to question what LK can do with a player if given practice time. Maybe Spangler comes back looking like an Osby clone. Maybe they turn Lattin into a shot blocking machine that deserves to start. Way too early to know for sure, I guess.

Has anyone seen a video of McNease? What are his stats? Kruger has a way of bringing frosh along.

I too see some very good skills for a big man in the video. Good touch at least out to 10 feet. And appears to run the court well as most of Kruger's recruits do.

I would not be surprised to see Lattin as the starter next year. Buford is probably good but playing the 4 he is just a less experienced Clark if as good.

We need more size in the lineup at times and Lattin may be better than Bennett who should also help a lot next year.

Not much out there on McNeace. I think someone posted a short video once, but I haven't been able to find one in my search for information. Here's a link with a pic:

From everything I can glean from what I've read, Jamuni is a late bloomer who is still trying to adjust to his 6' 9" body. I read somewhere that he was 5' 1" as an eighth grader. By his junior year he was his current height, 6' 9". It might be interesting to know what his parents where feeding him to bring on such a rapid growth spurt. lol I also read that he has a 29" vertical and an 84" wing span.

I watch Lattin highlights I see an elite athlete who is going to get to play with Spangler and a veteran guard group initially.
He's going to rebound, block shots, and throw up a highlight dunk reel off running the court on the break.
The ceiling of what Kruger could mold Lattin into is limitless. Think Harvey Grant.

You're a smart man. Spangler is such a hard worker and our coaches are so good at developing players, I actually expect him to come back next year with a much improved short range jumper, similar to what Romero did his senior season.

Think about how far Cousins has come since last year. A few here were even wondering if he was worthy of a scholarship. No one is questioning that now. The same could be said for every player on our roster.

I agree it's too early to predict anything with a reasonable degree of certainty. But I won't rule out the possibility that Spangler and Lattin might see the floor together, depending on the match ups. Not at first, mind you. But I think that could happen at some point of the season.

I actually think Spangler could be a little bit of this player this year... If that's what we needed. If you remember from the Europe trip, Spangler went 5-8 from 3 (a further Euro 3 point line too), so he has the ability. Now is it a shot that I think he would be hitting regularly right now? No, I think he got into a good rhythm in Europe, and Big 12 play would be tough to carry. But I think he has the form and athleticism to add it to his game, like Ro did senior year.

The reason I don't think we've seen this is because who else would we have rebounding down low? He is EASILY our best rebounder, and his offensive rebounding is a huge advantage we have on teams. If Spangler is out on the 3 point line, who is going to be down low? No one currently.

I think if we can get someone like Lattin, Bennett with another year, and eventually McNease (Spangler's senior season) we will see Spangler allowed to be the trailer and hit some of these open looks like Ro did last year, and we've seen Spangler attempt a few times this season.
