Lattin Stats

Okay, I went back today and rechecked with my source. This is what Coach said. "It is fair to be skeptical about some of Lattin's competition. Sometimes the best the opponents can do is throw a 6' 4/5" guy at him that is capable of banging him around some, but, can't really stop him. However, we have seen him enough against good competition to think that he is capable of getting 20 and 10 against about anyone"

That's good enough for me.

Will it be good enough for the skeptics? We may have to wait until next season to get the answer to that question.

this whole tread has taken a turn in the wrong direction. I haven't seen one person say anything about Lattin coming in and starting from day one, just people getting excited about the numbers he's been putting up. Crappy team or whatever, anytime a player consistently flirts with a 5x5 it's still impressive. Honestly if his numbers were like 10ppg and 7rpg there would be reason for concern, the kid is doing what he should be doing and that dominating the weaker competition. Aging his numbers have been good that's why i asked if he could be burger boy this year.

Money can't buy all Blake did to change the program. He's still doing it. The positive pub he has brought and continues to bring to our program is immeasurable.

I suppose so but I don't think the program was really altered. It was altered for the two teams he was hear but I think if Blake never came to OU, we would be in the same position right now.

LOL! If we could bring in bocabull, WTSooner and SoonerBounce in with our 2014 recruits, we would probably have the best starting five and best sixth man in all of college basketball. They're that good.

(Don't get mad, guys. Just funnin').

I don't agree. Blake being a former OU player helps with recruiting. Especially since he continues to maintain a presence with the university. It also brings national attention to the program which never hurts.

But what recruits have we brought in that you think Blake helped with? I mean, we have landed some good players but nothing more than we were getting before blake.

I just think very few players alter a program. OU is still the same OU regardless of blake.

You are wrong. You are very, very wrong. Lattin is an amazing talent. He will not be Ryan Spangler his first season but he is going to be very, very good. His mom and paternal grandfather played professional basketball.

This is grandpa:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dave_Lattin

This is mom:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monica_Lamb-Powell

This is Khadeem:http://espn.go.com/college-sports/basketball/recruiting/player/_/id/124519/khadeem-lattin

If you got goosebumps watching his "highlight" videos you get overly excited. Like I said I hope I'm proven wrong but watching those videos and after reading Gary's report you don't need to call me out telling me I'm wrong for saying he doesn't look to be a program altering talent. Serviceable talent is what I'm expecting at this time.

OU is still the same OU is an accurate statement. What is that? I would say that OU is a perennial top 25 team with a decent basketball tradition.

Program altering would be a player that moved that needle even if it was for a short time.

Agreed.

You hear OU football recruits (running backs) mention that AD was their idol all the time. I haven't really heard that in basketball, from anybody that we've landed. I don't think.

I think if you win POY and was the #1 pick you altered your program in some way.

The kid definitely needs sometime with Yo-Yo, but he has much better handles than I expected.

Well, it just so happens that I asked Yo Yo today what he thought he needed and could do with Lattin from June to November. He said that his goal would be to add 10-15 lbs of muscle.

He went on to say that that even though Lattin did need some weight gain, he isn't any skinnier now than Jabari Brown was when he was playing.

Definitely looks like a player who will contribute with 20lbs put on. Looks like he possesses a nasty streak which I love.

Man didn't know Yo Yo has been here that long.

Yeah just looked it up, played around Brown's time and strength coach in 2009. Being a OU grad I hope he stays for a long time, by the players results he seems to do an amazing job.

Maybe it's just me, but I think he has improved his handles since the first highlight video we saw. He also seems to be moving with more confidence and a purpose now.

A summer with Yo Yo to increase his muscle mass and improve his agility could do wonders for a kid who has never been part of a disciplined strength and conditioning program.

After watching this video I am even more excited to have this guy playing down low next year. Think we have 2 guys who will come in and contribute from day 1 in this class and 3 guys who will be really good by years 2 & 3... And for all those saying that he won't come in and be a big time contributor, I will point you to Jordan Woodard, Frank Booker, Buddy Hield, Ryan Spangler etc... How many of us all predicted they would be as good as they have been this year? None of us... Yet we have a program that builds guys up and helps them reach their potential. I trust this coaching staff to have Buford and Lattin ready by next fall! They just flat out know how to develop players!
