Solid game. Great athleticism. Anyone else reminded of Pattillo?

Liked his game a lot. He's longer than Patillo. He is the best FR big we've had since Blake.

Good looking athlete, made some really nice passes. My initial reaction is that he has a high basketball IQ. If he can develop some reliable post moves he will be very good.

Drop step, hook shot and a slight fade away from 10 feet.

+1, although tiny gallon makes a strong case for best fr big since bg.

Pattillo is only about 6-6 and Lattin is 6-8(7-0 with the fro). It's not really a fro but it was too good an opportunity to drop a line from fletch.

Very impressive display last night from him. I was worried that the low quality of play he went against in high school would hinder him especially out of the gate, but it looks like the kid can hoop and is ready to start.

Ideally he would come off the bench but Bennett didn't show me much improvement last night, and the NCAA is a bunch of scrubs so I don't expect them to help Thomas out.

Very impressed with this guy and you won't find a better pedigree considering his grandpa and mother both played in the NBA (wnba for his mom).

Another example of kruger's ability to find players with higher ceilings than their high school ratings would have you believe.

He had a solid first game, but I can guarantee there will be games that have us scratching our head and wondering about him. That is because he is freshman. But it's all about improvement, and yes, he had a good game. As far as ratings, i've been seeing people refer to him as a top-75 guy. If that's the case, that's pretty highly rated.

Random question, does OU measure these guys with or without shoes?

With shoes. Every team does it with shoes for even the guards (guarantee you Jordan Woodard isn't 6'0"). Even HS. My oldest son played for a large school in Oklahoma. He was 6'4.5" and he was listed at 6'6". Almost all the players are listed a couple of inches taller than they really are.

I don't know the answer to your random question. But, Spangler, Thomas, and Bennett are listed at 6'8". Thomas is taller than Spangler and Bennett is taller than Thomas. Lattin is taller than Bennett and Mcneace is taller than Lattin.

If Bennett is actually 6'8", which I doubt. Spangler can not be much more than 6'6".

Woodard is listed at 6'0". I'm 5'9" and he is just a shade taller than me. Grooms drawfs him. He probably goes 5'10" and Walker would be just under 6'0".

Manyang on the other hand is a legit 7'0". I have seen him standing next to YO YO and all of our current players. He towers over them. He is noticeably taller than Longar.

Lattin's length and athleticism makes him play taller. He's at least 6'8" though.

I actually asked Mike Houck about this (he is also the official team measurement person). He told me, prior to last season, he measures them with no shoes on. He said shoes add almost but not quite 1 inch to their height. The kids argue with him and try to cheat another inch or 2 out of him (especially James). He told me, however, their listed height in their actual height. I also think he said if they are in between, he rounds up if the are 1/2 or more, down if they are 1/2 or less.

I know one coach at a particular school in this state was notorious for adding 1-2 inches to the actual height of his ball players.

Patillo was all about athleticism. Lattin has much better hands and more court awareness.

He will surely have some rough games but you can't take away his ability to rebound in a crowd and his quick and accurate outlet passes. Kruger commented about the outlets after the game. that is a huge asset to a running game. He will rebound even better when he becomes better at blocking out rather than just depending on his athletic ability.

Probably will take time to develop his offensive game. He will pick up points with putbacks and on fast breaks. However, I expect both he and McNease to develop pretty good inside games.

Loved his instincts. He grabbed boards and got rid of ball quickly. It's going to be fun watching this young man grow.

I completely disagree with this. I'd take Lattin every day and twice on Sunday.

Gallon had a lot of issues (many that might have been corrected by a coach with better control of his team), but he was damn good as a freshman.

I thought he was awful. He had no idea how to play defense as a post. Some skill offensively but atrocious fundamentals.
