New Coach

The Athletic published an article today with a list of several candidates for Indiana. Some of them are guys we could have hired 11 months ago if we had made the obvious decision to move on.

If we move on from PM, Kevin Kruger from UNLV should get a look. He has shown an ability to recruit, build and develop.
You're freaking crazy. He's going to get fired at unlv.. why would he get a step up job? I'm taking a wild guess that you're a big kellen Sampson fan too?

We can agree to disagree brother. He landed a stud 5-star Dedan Thomas Jr. and had them right on the cusp of the NCAA Tournament last year. UNLV is a tough place to win.

Kruger has been as mid as mid can be.

KenPom finishes and current year: 90, 95, 73, 98 (no tournaments, pretty meh.)

Yea, they made a good push in the second half of last season but have otherwise not done anything of note. There is no way he gets a better job unless he either turns it around there (if not fired) or goes to a smaller school and rebuilds his career.

Lusk believes PM will be back next season but lists Chris Crutchfield as a strong candidate if PM is gone.
I don't know anyone on the inside, but I wouldn't be surprised, especially if Joe C is doing the hiring. They know him, he knows OU, he'd come cheap.

Omaha is leading the Summit League right now. Still, we got a mid-major coach the last time the job was open, and it hasn't gone as well as anyone would like.

This would not go over well with the fan base.

With that said, the trash can story at Omaha is funny. After a December losing streak, one of their assistants started beating up a trash can after games as a motivational stunt. They won 9 in a row, and even had a promotion based on it: bring a small trash can to a game, fill it up with popcorn for $5.

If we buyout Moser to hire Crutchfield, the program will officially be deceased.
This would be a decision to intentionally tank men's hoops for 3 or 4 years until the new AD is in place and the department gets on more solid footing.

I'd just as soon keep PM another year.
