coach kruger is obviously a multi-decade coaching legend, and i can imagine after all that time he would not have an enormous ego.
He threw up a shot as the shot clock was expiring. If he missed would Coach K really complain? Also to me you should always defend even if a game is basically over. Game isn't officially over till clock goes to 0 seconds. I'm all for a team running up a score if that's the way they play a game.

It was a good thing Duke turned it around this year after some struggles early. I was convinced another back surgery loomed on the horizon for Shashevski.
At that point in the game, with Duke having thrown in the towel, Brooks should have just let the clock run out.
That said, following the final buzzer, Shashevski (thanks, 04--that version I can possibly remember how to spell) ought to have had many other things occupying his genius brain than that three-point shot. Let the kid's own coach talk to him about it (or not) and tend to your own team, Coach S.
I remember the Coach K who was right by Jim Valvano's side during his last days. The Coach K who helped him to the stage for his ESPY speech and then back to his chair after it was over. The Coach K who, along with his wife, comforted Valvano's wife/family during those days and after he passed away.
The guy isn't perfect but nobody is perfect. I'm sure if he felt the need to speak to Brooks maybe Brooks deserved it and he said so at the end of the article.
Nobody knows what happens behind closed doors and I'm sure the players who make mistakes on the court, like Grayson Allen and Laettner, have dealt with Coach K regarding their mistakes. In the 30 for 30 documentary, "I hate Christian Laettner", Christian spoke about how much he appreciated Coach K and how much he had learned from him. Children usually have more respect for elders that teach them right from wrong. I can't imagine they would feel that way about Coach K if he just let them do what they wanted without retribution.
Just my opinion.
Frank Mason made a layup as time expired in the KU-Maryland game last night. I always like checking to see if something like this puts the game over the point total in Vegas, but in this case it did not.
