Lecturing Oregon star shows the bratty sanctimony of Mike Krzyzewski

This.

Everybody hates a winner. Coach K. Bob Knight. Dean Smith. Calipari. Very few overly successful coaches are immune. People hated Switzer. People don't like Saban and Meyer.

For the most part, it's a bunch of crap.

Most folks have good and bad traits, sometimes to an extreme in both cases. Surely, if we can rag on our Sooners even after victories that some posters don't find sufficiently dominant, your Coach S can withstand a little constructive criticism after what some view as a misstep on his part. The story praises him every bit as much as it critiques his behavior last night.

As long as we're wandering Memory Lane, I remember the Barry Switzer who performed (and performs) a great many charitable actions, just like Coach S. Doesn't mean Barry wasn't deserving of some criticism, too, and he'd probably be the first person to agree.

Coach is denying it.. player should shoot it.. who cares.. defend to the buzzer if you don't like it. I would be livid if am opposing coach lectured to my player

Frank Mason made a layup as time expired in the KU-Maryland game last night. I always like checking to see if something like this puts the game over the point total in Vegas, but in this case it did not.
The officials quit at that point because he walked before he made the basket.

Coach K is a great coach and from all accounts a very good person - needs to keep his mouth in house in this case.

This. If I had been Stoops, I would have had a very animated phone conversation with Butch Jones after his talk with Striker at Tennessee. Same thing with Altman last night. K's job is to coach his players to keep shots from going in. It's Altman's job to get his players to understand at times shots don't need to go in. K needs to get down off his high horse and coach his own team.

People hate Coach K ? From all accounts he's a pretty respected individual. I know plenty of Duke haters (including a bunch of people who live right in that Research Triangle area) and it has a lot less to do with him then the school/fans/players. I've rarely heard people despising Dean Smith also.

Putting them on the same list as Bob Knight and Calipari seems a bit of a stretch to me and just using that as reasoning why people hate "winners". Reputations are earned and given in most cases.

People here will Hate Brooks tomorrow night, book it. He is a good player but plays with an edge many people won't like. Just wait.

I just think he should spend time lecturing his player who likes to trip players

CBS released the audio of what Coach K said to Brooks. The exchange wasn't anything exciting, but it is interesting that Coach K lied about what he said and called Brooks a liar about the entire ordeal.

Interesting indeed! One has to wonder why he felt he had the right to scold another coach's player after a game? But to lie about what he said later and point an accusing finger at the player is inexcusable. That is the very definition of a liar and a hypocrite.

And, some of you want to know why people can't stand this guy? Well, now you know.

He expects to get all the breaks. I'm not surprised at all that he lied about what he said to the player. He is a bully just like his buddy Bobby Knight. Both are used to using their power/influence/aggression to influence refs, kids and media. I'm most surprised that CBS would release the smoking gun. I'm guessing that a top level executive needed to make the call to release it.

Here is a statement released by Coach K on the whole deal.
