Ok. Suppose we win tonight and go on to win the Big-12 tournament.

I say that would give us a 3 seed.

Win tonight, lose in Ch. game: 4 seed

Win tonight, lose in semis: 5 seed

Win tonight, lose 1st game: 6 seed

Lose tonight, lose 1st round: 8 seed

Where is this 3 seed talk coming from? Win or loose their is no way We are getting a 3 seed in NCAA tournament. LoL! No way No how.
Seriously? Even if we win the big 12 I would say we are a 6 seed maybe even 7 or 8. I just don't see us being that high and we aren't even ranked in top 25. Just being honest IMO.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us, grad.

I can assure you if we win the next 4, we will NOT be an 8 seed.

By the way. You are confused about how the committee works. The rankings/polls are not what determines the seedings.

Also, we may lose, but I'm pretty certain we won't "loose".

True I'm just sharing my thoughts. Even if we win the Big12 Tournament there is
No way we are a 3 seed. If we do end up winning it at the max I could see us at a 5 seed. But 3 seed? No way. Besides id rather take the 5 or 6 seed and just be the Suprise team of the tournament. The Kansas loss set us back a little.
There is just no way were a 3 seed even if we win the tournament.
Were already in lets not start dreaming to happy just yet.

No one is saying we will win the tournament. I'm pretty worried about tonight.

It was just a hypothetical question.

Anyone saying "what if" is clearly not saying "we will".

I'm just wondering what some of our posters think those various finishes would mean to our seeding.

This dream is turning into a nightmare.

grad, I must admit the idea of a 3 seed - no matter what may happen down the road - looks like a massive, crazy, impossibly impossible outcome.

If we win the Big Twelve tournament, we absolutely will be a #3 seed. I don't think there is any question.

No way OU gets a #3 seed over us if we both make conference tourney championship and Sooners win! Right now we are lucky to be in top 10 the way we are playing! If somehow we are a #2 in NCAA Tourney it will be pure luck.

If OU beats Baylor again, I suspect that both will be #3 seeds. The competition isn't that great. There are not twelve superteams out there.

A three seed? Are you people nuts? We'll be lucky to get in at this point (I think we will, but this team is playing like crap and don't think that won't get noticed by the selection committee).

Not a chance. I don't think there's a chance of a 4 seed - not with the loss to Kansas. One of the selection criteria is bad losses. Another is performance over the last 10 games.

You need to step back from the ledge, Oliver.

Stranger things have happened my friend. I just read that Ringo Starr gave an interview to the press in the last few days confirming Paul died in a car accident in 1966.

Are you aware that other top twenty teams are losing?

Duke is supposedly a #3 seed. Duke just lost three in a row, finally winning by one point in Durham over North Carolina. Do three losses count? Oh, yes. They had some bad losses, like at Boston College.

Louisville is a three seed supposedly. But, they have lost two of their last three, one of which was to Virginia.

Once you get past the top five or six, there is a lot of room to drop a lot of teams.

Come on Oliver. The second place Big-12 team is getting in. You know that and are just frustrated by tonight's game.

But it was a 10 point win over the 3rd place (tie) team in the conference. That is what it will look like to the folks who only consider wins & losses.

You are right, Sweet, of course.

But other teams ahead of us losing, making our spot in the tourney even more dicey, wouldn't you say?

As Syb noted, they are all losing.

Am I the only one who thinks a win going away against OSU in STW was a really good win? My goodness. We couldn't score in the first half, but we played our butt off and with a lot of intensity.

I'm not sure I understand that.

If team A wins and the teams above them lose, that certainly wouldn't move team A down.

We are getting to the part of the season where 'win and advance' is all that matters. It's not a beauty pageant. We played a team who would rather beat us than breathe. We don't get an * by the W because we didn't play our best. After the Baylor win, our emotional gas tank was completely empty. it filled up a little bit tonight.

The youngest team in the conference is in second place all by itself with the 3rd place team 3 games back. We beat the wicked witch of Waco and all our fans can do is gripe. :facepalm

Let's look at OU's losses, NCAA women's rpi rank:

27 South Florida (N)
9 Kentucky (N)
37 At Arkansas-Little Rock
13 At Duke
46 At Arkansas
23 At Texas
65 At West Virginia
3 At Baylor
43 At Iowa State
102 Kansas

Our only suspect losses were to Kansas and West Virginia. We also beat
3 Baylor
23 Texas
30 Washington
43 Iowa State
45 Oklahoma State---twice
63 TCU-----twice
65 West Virginia
73 Kansas State---twice
102 Kansas

Are we the only team with bad losses?

A&M is up there. They just lost to #96 Missouri at home and #71 LSU on the road.
Kentucky just lost to #97 Mississippi
#100 Virginia just beat Louisville
#105 Boston College beat Duke
#166 Oregon just beat Stanford
#162 St Louis beat Georgetown
Of course, #102 Kansas did beat California
