Big Lineup:

1) blair
2) clark
3) osby
4) fitz
5) goff

Fast Lineup:

1) grooms
2) newell
3) clark
4) osby
5) goff

with pledge being able to coem off the bench for any of those lineups to add scoring....I truly believe pledge is best coming off the bench because of his ability to hit the three and give us a spark

Clark isnt a 2. no matter how you look at it.. I dont think he can gaurd a 2 either.

I think any starting lineup that you'll see will include Fitz, Osby, and Clark. Based on the fact that Kruger's teams are more guard-centric, I would guess the remaining 2 spots are filled by 1's and 2's (Blair, Grooms, Newell, Pledger).

Here is my projected Depth Chart if you will

PG Sam Grooms/Carl Blair (very close battle-whichever one wins the job in preseason)
SG Steven Pledger/Calvin Newell
SF Cameron Clark/Tyler Neal
PF Romero Osby/CJ Washington
C Andrew Fitzgerald/Robert Goff/Barry Honore

That leaves Nick T and the two walkons on the bench getting garbage minutes.
I like that we are legitimately 2 deep at every position now. We may not even need to get a big man in the late period.

I know exactly the reason why Nick got benched because I saw the incident and Capel freak out on him [and then he never really played again], but I could still see him getting some time on the court this season under a new regime.

FWIW, I think that the only guys you can "lock" at this point as starters are Osby and Clark. Fitz is probably the next closest "lock" but I could see where Goff could be the starter if he is more athletic, defensive minded and athletic than Fitz and that is what CLK wants in a big.

We have a new coach who has already said he is not going to be locked into a "system" and he probably isn't going to put much stock in "last year" either. Good news to me is that guys are going to have to compete for spots, but we'll know soon enough..practices are open :)

Where does this stuff come from? Clark's future is at the 2. As for him guarding a 2 you might want to ask Alec Burks about that as Cam totally shut him down.

He better learn how to handle the ball then or if his future may never come...

I see him as a 3, now, and for the rest of his career.

this ...

also of note from what i have heard romero is a wing that can guard 2's and 3's as well ..

doesn't mean we won't go small sometimes and play him at the 4 ..

Cam had the fewest turnovers of any starter. He shot the highest % from 3 of any starter. He is easily athletic enough to guard any 2 man to man. He has a great mid range jumper.

Why isn't he a 2? Because OU hasn't had an NBA caliber 2 before and you guys don't know what one looks like?

You trust Cam bringing the ball up at times vs pressure? Not yet I dont. 2's can handle the ball almost as good as Pg's. Cam is not there yet.

Trust me I hope he can play the 2. That would be awesome, but comparing him to 2's in the NBA is a stretch right now...

Clown Statement!

Cam is a 2 guard. That is where his future is. I would have Grooms, Clark, Osby, Fitz and Goff. Osby is not a low post player, he is a wing.

Burks had 15/9. That doesn't = a total shut down in my books.

I disagree with every word.

In college, Cam is the definition of a 3. Whether you call that a big guard, a wing, or a SF, Cam is that. To a frickin' T.

And Osby is not a wing. I don't care how agile he is, he isn't going to be able to get down and guard 75% of college 3's. He is a 4 that has perimeter skills.

And I doubt Grooms beats out Blair. But we'll see on that one.

Thank you!

Every year people do this. They try to pencil in a player at a position that they likely won't see for more than a couple of minutes per game, at most. Every single year. I heard for two years how Taylor was going to play the 3 spot. Never happened. At least, not for more than a couple of minutes, in a couple of games.

Like I asked before... You think he can handle the ball well enough... If you put that lineup on the floor...

I would PRESS the HELL out of you! I hope Cam works on his ball handling enough to play the 2.
