Take this FWIW...

Talked to a guy, who claimed to know some people who work at OU, and he said that the word was Joe C. may have secured the money for a "major renovation" of the LNC. But most of those donors have pulled out due to the current state of the program.

I have no idea if that is true, if this guy knows who he said he knew, but he seemed like he really thought that story, or a very similar version of if it, was true.

Anyone heard anything about Joe C. working behind the scenes to secure funding for a major renovation?

if true this is very bad news for the Capel family.

No news here...

IMO, move the TV shots to behind the coaches and move the students to the floor on the opposite side. Then you've got your most rowdy fans on TV.

It's Capel's fault we'll have to continue to sit in plastic chairback seats. I've changed my mind, get him outta here!

Students? I will continue to call out the students any chance I get. They are the biggest hole in LNC right now. I dont want that on TV.

I would agree. I've never seen the student section as lackadaisical as they are now. I bet we didn't have 100 students at the Nebraska game. No excuse for that, but maybe they are trying to make a statement about the program?

Apathy is a statement?

No, it's not. They may be apathetic. If so, cut back the number of student tickets.

I was just surmising maybe the students don't really want to watch bad basketball and a double-digit loss.

It's been 20 years since I was a student, so things have definitely changed in that time period.

The students go where the fun is. Would you call OU basketball fun right now?

This is not an indictment of OU basketball really. They weren't showing up the way they should've during the Griffin years.

Heck, go to a 6A HS basketball game tonight. I only chose 6A because there are A LOT of students and most are located near bigger cities with alternatives to the game...

Football is all the students on campus care about in regards to sports, its fairly simple. I dont see it changing anytime soon.

FIFY.

Have you ever watched the student section during a football game? Only about half are there after half time.

Fans aren't going to games for multiple reasons, I'm sure. But I'll put in my two cents about one of my personal pet peeves. It gripes my rear end to pay $3.50 for a bottle of water in the same brand I can purchase most anywhere for $4.00 a case. That was the price two years ago, it may be more now.

I expect to pay outrageous prices for concessions at the local theater. That's one of the reasons I don't go to the movies often. It's not that I can't afford it. I just don't like to be ripped off, by anyone! If you think the over all cost of going to games is not a factor in this tough economy, better think again. Packing the house at the UT game by letting fans in free should be proof of that.

Back on topic, if the LNC renovation rumor is accurate and the money people bailed on the idea, that does not bode well for Coach Capel. Can't say I blame them, though. No amount of money or remodeling of the facility will help, until fans are rewarded with a better product. I feel sorry for the Capelables, because I know how hard they have worked to improve attendance in the past three years.
