Okie Jr is going down in the first round. Getting shipped to San Jose to play the PAC 12 tournament champs coached by Dana Altman.

Looks like he tweeted "OU looking like a 1 Seed #NIT". LOL!

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see OSU knocked out in the first round. Oregon will be a tough match up for them, especially out west.

If not, STL in round 2 should do it.

Oregon will be a tough game, as they are drastically under-seeded, but I don't know that they're actually a bad matchup for us.

The teams that have given OSU the most trouble this year are teams that are highly efficient offensively, but not necessarily that great defenisvely. Baylor, ISU, OU and KSU all fit that profile.

Oregon's profile is highly efficient defensively (16th), but not great offensively (121st).

St. Louis, for that matter, is the same. In fact, their offensive/defensive profile is almost identical to OSU's:

  • St. Louis: #58 adjusted O, #7 adjusted D
  • OSU: #56 adjusted O, #9 adjusted D

I expect OSU/Oregon to be a close, low-scoring game. Maybe the first team to 60 wins.

Same thing if OSU were to play St. Louis in round two.

And if we somehow survive those two teams we get Louisville YAAAAAY...

Well, if you make it to the Sweet Sixteen, you're going to be playing a really good team regardless of where you are.

Both OSU-Oregon and OSU-SLU have the potential to be low-scoring slugfests. That's the kind of game OSU wants to play.

Looking at the other 12 seeds, a team like Ole Miss would have probably been the worst matchup for OSU.

The fit the exact profile of teams that have given us problems... highly efficient offense (#28) with a moderately efficient defense (#55).

Next time, put OKLAST in the First Four. That way, they'll have a guaranteed easier first opponent.

Unless a VCU type has a Final Four run again... :P

Oregon was underseeded and I think OSU was as well.

OSU should have been a 4 seed, imo.

OSU should have been a 4 seed, imo.

Based on what?

Ken Pom ranks them 20th.
Their RPI is 26th.
They finished 3rd in the 5th or 6th best conference.

IMO they were lucky to get the 5. Their were some 6 seed predictions out there for them before yesterday.

Gotlieb is not the only one crying about Oregon. Tramel broke out the crying towel in this morning's editorial titled, "How Oklahoma State caught a bad break."

I got so choked up I had to dry my eyes before I could finish reading the article. :ez-laugh:

I don't know why this is so surprising.

Pretty much every single analyst out there has been talking about how Oregon got hosed (and OSU by proxy) by getting the 12-seed.

The thing is that OSU gets double-hosed because not only do they have to play, by far, the best 12-seed, but they have to play them right in their own back yard.

Given that OSU was the highest 5-seed, it's pretty baffling.

Gotta be Joe C's fault.

OSU was overseeded by a couple and Oregon was underseeded by a couple.

Should be a 7-10 matchup so no big deal.

The big deal is Hillbilly Ford vs Dana Altman. That's the massive mismatch.
