Thought I'd share some notes from it.

On the team
"Its a good group with a good attitude that will work very hard"

Whats the last day been like?
"Its been really good, people have been kind. Joe C said 'You will love the people'. Its been true. People have been great"

Plan for the next couple days
"Thursday at noon is when I go out to recruit. Will be out through Sunday. Then Monday through Thursday is dead period. Opens back up following weekend. Just a few days in April"

On whats left out there in recruiting.
"Majority signed early or verbally commit. Only about 10% left available. Got a good core to go forward with but have a few scholarships left. If we find the right people we will try to get after them, maybe even a transfer option."

On what practice was like today
"During this time we can practice 2 hours a week. Did 45 minutes, give them an idea of the tone of practice. Lot of shooting, lot of drill work"

Osby
"Good motor, high energy level, flexible to play inside and outside. Shoot the ball. He's fired up and ready to play"

On winning the group over some quickly
"The guys have a great attitude, good group of guys. Capel has good guys, good people. The guys have been open, talkative, good to interact with"

New staff
"Good to have people around you are familiar with. Good to work with guys I've been with for 10 15 years (Hill and Henson I assume)
We have no idea who we will complete the staff right. But its a HUGE hire! Important to bring in a guy who will will recruit Oklahoma, Texas etc."

On the talent in Oklahoma, historically/now
"The talent in the state goes in the cycles. Has some hot years and then more selective. Its can be very good. Very good high school coaching in the state."

Billy Tubbs
"Talked to him over the weekend. He's excited."

Also talked about how no one was stronger than Tubbs and the talent he had in the 80s in the Big 8.

He spoke with Jeff Webster today, didn't go into detail about what they talked about though. He recruited Webster hard when he was at KSU.

Thanks for sharing...mainly this part. Between Oklahoma and North Texas, you can build a FF type team, not every year, but often enough. Gotta think Terry Evans is going to be the next AC, completes the circle of awesomeness going on right now IMHO.

I'm with you.

Good post.

I do not believe Terry Evans will be the next assistant coach. Call it a gut feeling.

I dont think it will be either. I think it will be a bigtime recruiter! bigger than just okla ties...

The fact that he said he has no idea who they're going to hire could be an indication that it is NOT Terry.

LK mentioned he wants a guy to recruit Ok and Tx. Terry Evans only recruits Ok. I think if it was going to be Terry, he wouldn't be waiting 10-14 days to name him.

Isn't Webster running a basketball camp in the Dallas area? Don't know if he has any coaching experience though.

That is kind of the way I'm thinking.

And as long as he brings in a big name, or somebody that can produce (coach/recruit) like a big name, I'm fine with that.

Sam - thank you for the interview notes. Right now, I can't get enough of what Kruger is saying.
