Did you see how intense he was yesterday? He was FIRED up. Got on the refs, the players. Not sure I've seen him show that much emotion over the course of the game since he's been at OU.

The way the game was being played and officiated may have brought that on.
I’m not saying the officials were biased. Calls almost always favor the home team to some extent. That’s been the nature of the game for as long as I can remember. In this instance, however, I think the officials allowed a hard fought, physical game to get out of hand at times.

If I’m right in assuming Lon was upset at the officials because he was concerned somebody was going to get hurt, he had a right to feel that way. Bodies on both sides were flying everywhere. As I recall, the toughest player on our team struggled to get back on his feet and continue at least three times. We were already missing two key players. Lon didn’t want to see that number climb to three or more.

Pure speculation on my part, based on what I was seeing with my own eyes.

I love it. Did you see the halftime speech? They were talking about the physical play and some players were afraid they were going to want to brawl. Lon said "If they want to fight give them what they want.... but leave Beard's ass for me!"

LOL. Don't know if you were kidding (certainly not accusing you of being untruthful), but that sure seems out of character for Lon.

Totally kidding. Been watching too much 30 for 30. Lou Holtz said that to his team about Jimmy Johnson. Imagining Lon saying something like that just sounds funny.
