Marcus smart just hit a fan!

I wonder if Dick Vitale is going to appologize about his comments. It appears prettyclear that Smart lied about what was said

please, you have a better chance of getting a politician to on tell the truth while campaigning

For those of you that still think Orr said something worse, or that the audio is doctored, I ask you this.....

Do you really think Smart's first words today at the press conference would have been "I'd like to apologize to Mr. Orr" if Smart or OSU thought for one second that there was some kind of cover up? That is just laughable. If you watched the press conference, you could tell from what was said, how it was said, and what wasn't said, that the whole "n-word stuff" was completely made up. Period.

If I were OSU's PR guy I would have told him to appologize either way. So I am not sure I agree but I have not seen the press conference.

That quote is total bull****. First as was pointed out he could not have said Orr because he didn't know Orr's name. Second I am not familiar with a black guy saying he called me the N word.

When you claim to have a quote and two things are highly questionable I tend to think the quote is BS

I incorrectly had typed out the quote since I had heard it over the radio when Holcomb was doing the broadcast of the game. He later confirmed the quote to the Tulsa World. He was telling the coaches that he heard the fan (Orr) call him the N-word. The quote is not BS, just typed out incorrectly the first time. My bad.

Thanks for clearing that up.

I do think people need to pump the brakes on the racial aspect of this unless some facts come out to clear it up. It doesn't help anybody.

Nobody is disputing that Smart said that. Just that it likely was completely fabricated.

Could someone else have said it and he thought it was 'super fan'? I only ask because I wouldn't be surprised if someone said it.

That's possible. But Smart turned immediately and lasered in on the Superfan. Seemed there was no confusion where the words came from.

Kevin Durant said he may have done the same thing as smart.

"He's a 20 year old kid"
"Heat of the moment"
Easy for you guys (media) to judge him because you have never been in that situation."
"He's regretting it and he knows he made a mistake"
"He needs to learn from it, looks like he is learning from it"
"But again it was the heat of the moment and I'm not sure I wouldn't have reacted any different"

You need to realize you are advocating for a content based restriction on speech and that is almost always a losing position

I don't think a public university's basketball gym would be a public forum; thus, the school could restrict based on content.

What bothered me the most and the reason I think he got the suspension is the fact that he got off the ground and went toward the guy. Shows some sort of intent. Heat of the moment or not, he had to get up and move toward the guy.

I would have probably said no punishment needed if for example his momentum took him into the fan and then he pushed him. Example would be when Forte fell into the OU student section. If an OU student would have said something , I don't think I would have an issue with a push. But getting up and moving toward the fan goes to far.

what i learned from this story from the majority of people following it and commenting on it in the media--

young black men can/should batter 60 yr old men and women, IF they think they heard the "N-word", despite the biggest users of the "N-word" being "young black men"...

makes sense

I would think the audio would have shown up on that latest video though. Smart was pretty much laying on that video, so anything he heard, I would think the camera would have picked up as well.

Please. Just about everybody has been called a name in a tense situation, and not had it escalate to that point.

LOL at all the media saying the fan should never go to a game again b/c he said Piece of crap. lol

and then baby fitzpatrick swears he had to have said something else b/c no way marcus would push somebody just for piece of crap.

I'm shocked at how many people are saying TT faked the audio on that video. Really? You think a university is going to go through all of that to protect one fan? And they are going to do so not knowing for sure what other camera/video/audio evidence, or person, may come forward? Come on.

Not to mention, if the video is doctored, I'm sure there is somebody out there that could prove that. Just like they do with photo-shopped pictures.

Sheesh.

All the evidence I needed was Marcus & Travis not wanting to discuss what the man said.. THAT'S THE REASON IT'S A STORY!!!
