Marcus smart just hit a fan!

Heck, I call my brothers pieces of crap all the time. It's darn near a term of endearment. :)

I don't know that the video changes much.

Smart didn't react well, no matter what was said.

It doesn't say much about a fifty-year-old fan that he would insult a college kid to his face.

Incidentally, you don't have to use a racial term for it to be racial. There is simply no evidence in this case whether race played a role or not.

Wait what? We know what he said now. We supposed to assume that there was some racial subtext to him calling smart a piece of crap? Heck, we've said meaner things about him in our flopping threads than that. Should we assume that most of this board is racist until proven otherwise?

The evidence that a racial slur was used is Smart's say so. That is all. And of course, Smart lied about it.

You can here "piece of crap" loud and clear.

Nice jumping to conclusions all of you that thought crap was s***, and those that thought he probably used a racial slur.

I bet Smart gets less than three games if he is honest about what was said.

Agreed. I watched the video several times and there is no doubt in my mind that's what Orr said. Did that make it right? Absolutely not. But it seems obvious to me that Smart used the "racial slur" excuse in an attempt to cover his rear end.

Hopefully, he'll learn from this experience and be better for it.

3 games for Smart is enough given what I have seen/heard. Believe Orr not attending games for the rest of the season may not be warranted, but it is in everyone's best interests.

Hopefully all fans and players will take this as a learning experience and we can move on. As coolm said previously, don't understand some of the vile spewed at games, unfortunately it's part of our accepted society.

How many opposing fans will chant "piece of crap" every time Smart shoots free throws the rest of the year?

And maybe I'm a bad person, but I will laugh every time I hear it. :woot

This incident has been a sad commentary on college basketball as a whole. It also interrupted our celebration of a great win over Baylor earlier in the evening. Maybe now that it's over we can get back to giving OU players and coaches credit for making fans like us proud!

Investigative journalist Doug Gottlieb doesn't seem to be buying the story:

Jeff Orr says he called Smart a "Piece of Crap" but volunteers to not attend Tech games the rest of the year? Gotcha

I only have one thing to add. This has been a great discussion. This is why I absolutely love OU fans and my alma mater. I've read everyone's comments and reflections. I may not agree with all but I've enjoyed reading them.

Thank you to the board admins for allowing a spirited discussion.

Goatlieb was one of the first people on twitter throwing out the racial slur being said

So, many at orangepower.com are giving the newly found video that is supposed proof that "piece of crap" is what was said by Orr no credibility at all.

What must it be like to be so clueless? I can understand that they don't like it, that they are disappointed that Smart reacted so strongly to that, but to act like it is staged or made up or overdubbed is beyond reality to me. :facepalm

Missed the first part of the presser. What did Marcus or Ford say that insinuated the racial slur part was made up?

They think everything is big anti OSU conspiracy. Just like the SI article. They won't believe dozens of sources independently confirming stories. Now they won't believe video evidence. Aggie land is a world where logic doesn't exist.

They totally refused to talk about what the fan said. and like another post on here, nothing earth shattering was said in the press conference, I thought the media pool was weak, and Ford wasn't gonna comment on anything outside of the suspension levied
