Mark Turgeon or Scott Drew to replace Ernie Kent at Oregon?

5 of the top 14 rookies are from the pac-10. zero from the big 12.
3 of the top 10 sophs are from the pac-10. 1 from the big 12.

Yeah that's pretty equal. Only 8 to 1.

Not as unequal as the fact that the pac10 will probably only have one player drafted and probably in the mid second round.

Yeah that's pretty equal. Only 8 to 1.

The guy leading the entire freaking league in scoring happens to be from the Big 12.

Few needs to be smart like Peterson at Boise State and not mess with a good thing. The same could probably be said for Alford at New Mexico.

That may or may not be. Few is an Oregon grad (as is Kent) and both he and the athletic dept. have been playing footsies for a couple of years now. As for the Peterson analogy, I don't recall ever hearing anyone offer Peterson a better position.

So you're basing your conclusion that the talent level is entirely better with the Pac 10 as opposed to the Big 12 because of only 9 players? That's a reach to say the least.

What about overall Pac 10 and Big 12 players in the league? I think that would be a more fair representation to suggest that the Pac 10 is "alot more talented" then the Big 12.

What I do know for a fact, is that over the last several years the Big 12 has performed better then the Pac 10 in the NCAA Tourney... I know tourney results is not the end-all in deciding which conference has more talent, but it is a good measuring stick. If the Pac 10 had a lot better players that you're suggesting, you would think the Pac 10 would perform better in the tournament.

What moron would leave the big 12 for the Pac Ten? For starters travel is a pain in the arse, both coaches are in very good standing with the current gig. Neither will take the job if offered.

I disagree. I see Drew leaving Baylor. He is never going to get the monetary support from Baylor that is required to be a basketball power. A&M will pony up the money that is needed to have a basketball power. They already have very good facilities and have outstanding fan support.

Drew gets paid well. He has an incentive laden contract that will put him in the top 20 nationally this year. Besides he can't coach, so he would never get consideration from another school.

Baylor is a great fit for him. Some of his childhood friends think he's a lifer if Baylor treats him well. I would be worried about some big10 schools. He's from the Midwest. Few is an Oregon alum I believe. Turgeon might bolt. Being at a school that is football first like A&M and so many schools in the South wears on a guy.

Drew will entertain offers for negotiating reasons. But he's not going anywhere next year with Perry Jones coming in and almost every contributor back except Lomers and Carter. He is slowly building something great at Baylor and I can see the focus of the school athletically being basketball going forward- Duke, Vandy, Kansas and other similar schools that struggle with football.

Perry Jones = that is an insane pick-up for Baylor.

I am not in the Drew leaving camp, Baylor is his brain-child. Turgeon on the other hand I can understand. His dream job is KU, but that looks like it will never happen. A&M has been very surprising this year and overall pretty solid since he took over, but I don't see them competing for conference titles in the long run, the top of the Big XII is just too good and there are a lot of strong coaches.

As I said before, if I am Turgeon, I would head to UO. Brand new arena, great compensation, down conference this year, history of solid players, the "Nike" appeal, etc. Look at the Oregon players in the last few years...state can produce some talent.

The Alford vs. Turgeon argument is a no-brainer...you take the one who has been more successful, and that is Turgeon.

Thanks for responding to my page. lol

I agree that I can't see Drew leaving. Despite Oregon being able to pay (a little) more, why would you want to take on a huge rebuilding project with what he's got brewing in Waco?

I think Drew would be a top candidate at Iowa when Lickliter gets let go. Drew just LOOKS like a midwest guy.

Why would anyone leave A&M? That place has all the makings of being able to maintain a top flight program. Huge school, huge athletic department, huge recruiting pool, good academics.

It would make sense to leave A&M for one of the great programs, but Oregon seems hard to imagine.
