Mark Turgeon or Scott Drew to replace Ernie Kent at Oregon?

Every coach in the Big 12 would consider leaving their current school for the Pac-10. And if I was a betting man I'd say 11 would do it.

Self would be the only coach to not consider the greatness of the Pac10 right?

The big12 coaches would be drooling to get to the Pac10 for which of these reasons:

1. Apathetic West Coast fans?
2. They enjoy the exposure that the Pac10 offers during the week when games start at 10pm EST?
3. All the national championships they have won since 2000?

The fans are no more apathetic than in the Big 12. You see as many or more fans at games out here as you do at many of both OU's and Baylor's.

The exposure is just fine. Remember that east coast games start out here at 2 to 3 pm......like we rush home to see those. I get home most days that OU plays just in time to catch the tip.

As for the national titles.....the Big 1/Little 11 has all of one since 2000. That's not much to rag on.

All that being said, I'm confident Drew doesn't have to worry about turning Oregon down.....and Turgeon would not be their first choice.

In 2008-2009 when the Pac 10 was strong, they had two schools in the top 50 in attendance (Arizona and UCLA). The Big12 had 9. In 2009-2010, the Pac10 has one school on the top 50 list (Arizona). The Big12 has 9.

If you are looking at conference games only, the big12 has 11 schools averaging over 9000 in attendance- Colorado the only one not making the list.

The Pac10 has 4 over 9000 nightly (Arizona, California, Washington, UCLA).

You are kidding yourself if you don't think Bill Self would at least consider the UCLA job and every other coach in the Big 12 wouldn't take it.

The Pac-10 has had a run of bad-luck the past few years in regards to coaching. Montgomery to the NBA, Lute Olsen situation, Johnson to LSU, Bennett to UVA, USC coaching changes, etc. The only program which has really improved in that time is ASU who picked up Sendek.

Recent statistics are great, but UO consistently sold out when Jones and the twin Lukes were there...Mac Court was probably one of the toughest places to play in the country. Stanford had a nice run of success under Montgomery. Wazzu had very good attendance under the Bennett's. UO is a great move for Turgeon, IMO...mostly due to the support that program has and he could turn it into a Top 3 team in the conference easily.

Conference strength goes in cycles, so does fan support, save a the few elite programs which sell-out no matter what.

The only reason he would consider the UCLA job is to milk KU out of another raise.

The Pac 10 has three arenas that seat less than 10000 and two that seat right at 10000. That's five that are smaller than Lloyd Noble. By your definition, Dook would barely make the top 50 (if they do) with a seating capacity of 9300. Tell me they are apathetic.

And what about the other 11 Big 12 coaches...do you believe any of them would NOT take the Pac-10 UCLA job?

Cheno, I misread the intent of your post. I agree that all big 12 coaches would consider UCLA and Arizona. I don't know that they would be chomping at the bit to be stuck at Washington State. Fine school but it has its drawbacks from a recruiting/media exposure standpoint.

Washington State is a great stepping stone to better jobs. Just ask Kelvin Sampson.

No more so than Colorado, Nebraska, Tech, Iowa State. All conferences have some dogs. I'd rather have the Washington St job than Colorado or Nebraska. And it's not even close.
