Marques Bolden Update

He played 2 minutes in the championship game. And you're telling me he's a top 15 pick?

Athletic 7 footers who can shoot go in the lottery, even if they don't produce as Freshmen in college.

Deandre Jordan couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat, and Mullins is a STIFF! You can't compare those 2 to Labissiere.

So because he can hit a jump shot against some of the worst talent in college basketball, he should be looked at different?

Deandre Jordan. Bj Mullins didn't
DeAndre Jordan couldn't shoot. Nine years removed from college, he still can't shoot. In 63 games this season, he's made exactly one field goal outside the paint.

Whether or not any of us think Labissiere SHOULD be a high draft pick is besides the point. If he enters this draft, he's a first round lock, and understandably so IMO. There aren't many athletic bigs with decent shooting touch.

this .. it is a pure fan site ..

use draftexpress or espn

who runs draftexpress?

It seems to be trendy to discredit nbadraft.net but is it really that bad? Has it been proven to be any less accurate than any other mock draft site?

And why is a fan run site bad? Isn't all message boards fan run sites?

Jonathan Givony, who also writes for Woj at The Vertical. Woj isn't putting his stamp of approval on random jabroni fans.

Yes. Just read their content. I'm not even going to dig back to the days where they compared Deshawn Stevenson to Michael Jordan. Jaylen Brown's jump shot is 8/10. Buddy Hield's is 9/10. Buddy Hield's NBA comparison is James Harden.

I could produce a comparably accurate mock draft just by looking at the mock drafts of writers with legitimate sources and tweaking those projections into my own thing, based upon what I know about each team as an informed fan.

You don't understand why a fan-run site is bad to use as evidence of a player's draft stock? NBAdraft.net's evals are terrible, and it's not as if they're plugged into the league, as I've never seen them break any news.

i guess it depends on what info you are going to the site to get. I usually go to see mock drafts. I don't look at their comparisons much. But when I do, it seems nbadraft.net most of the time is comparing bodies and style more than level of play. just my opinion.

And a very quick google search shows most people think nbadraft.net has the more accurate mocks but express has better evaluations.

If there has been a study on the two sites i'd love to see it.

I don't think anyone is going to nbadraft.net to get breaking news.

You're going to have to enlighten me. What athletic seven footers who produced so little in college have been lottery picks? Certainly none of those Kentucky guys. All their lottery pick centers and power forwards had semi productive freshmen years. I can't think of one who averaged 15 minutes per game and 3 rebounds as Skal did.

Is he Joel Embiid? Not close. Have the millions the Sixers invested in Joel Embiid paid off? Not even... SL is nowhere even close to Turner was at Texas. He doesn't have the body or the playing experience.

There's a reason Labissiere isn't seeing the floor. He doesn't like contact and Cal isn't happy about it. SL needs to stay in school, get stronger and then play 25 minutes on a big stage on a nightly basis. Then he can be a lottery pick.

Right now, some agent might entice him to leave early but I'll bet anyone he falls between 16 and 25.

Comparing Buddy Hield's style of play to James Harden's is absurd...but they're about the same height, so astute comparison on their part.

I don't think Chad Ford is a great talent evaluator, but he clearly has sources within the league. DraftExpress has better evaluations, but they also have NBA sources as well. If NBAdraft.net doesn't produce decent evaluations, and they have nothing in the way of sources, then what gives the site's mock drafts any credibility? It's no different from a random, ignorant fan creating mock drafts based on what other people are reporting.

Or he can return to school, not improve as dramatically as expected, and drop to the second round.

I guess i don't see the issue.

So what if it's a fans site. It would be no different than you going and starting your own mock draft site. Just b/c a fan creates it doesn't automatically mean it is crap like you imply. We are all fans. We all ready various sources to form an opinion. They happened to get a great domain name and their mocks seem to be fairly accurate. I guess I don't see the reason for getting so worked up about it. It almost seems like you think fans shouldn't be able to create their own sites and you look down on anybody that forms an opinion without having sources?

I have no problem with people reading those sites, or with fans forming their own opinions. I just think it's crazy that people cite such sites as credible, reliable sources for a player's draft stock.

If I started my own mock draft site, and people then started referencing it as a credible gauge of a player's draft stock, I think that would be ridiculous.

Citing nbadraft.net is like me running to another board and telling people that Labissiere is a sure lottery pick because random poster sperry from OUHoops thinks so or that Labissiere won't be a lottery pick because SilliSooner said so.
