Marques Bolden Update

The one I remember from OU who returned and should have jumped to the NBA was Ryan Minor. He was a 1st round pick if he had declared after his junior year. Instead he returned, didn't make it as a 2nd round choice and knocked around in baseball for a few years.

I always felt bad for him and believed he made a mistake by returning to OU.

Had he left he wouldn't have been around for the baseball NC and Ryan really loved baseball more than basketball truth be told.

Maybe so, but a 1st round NBA pick gets 3 years of guaranteed money. I bet he would have made a lot more money than playing minor league baseball for 10 years..... and a cup of coffee with Baltimore.

Choices. I've made a couple of choices in my lifetime I wish I could do over.

Not everything is about money. I bet he doesn't regret anything. I also bet that he's living a comfortable life.

We won the CWS in the summer of '94. Minor's breakout hoops season was '94-95. In other news, I've never stopped hating JD Drew.

Around this time almost every year, Harold Arceneaux crosses my mind at least once. Guy lit it up as a junior against UNC, had NBA scouts drooling, but returned to school for his senior year, only to go undrafted
The Show! That game was the major impetus for the Pod system we now know in the first/second round. UNC threw a hissy fit about being a 3-seed and being "forced" to travel to Seattle and face Weber State. I guess they just got used to the first two rounds in Greensboro or Raleigh and the regional in Charlotte. They never can catch a break.

Three years in NBA salary would've been around 500,000 in the mid-90s. I'm guessing he made somewhere around that in his majors service. Maybe 400,000 or so. But baseball also has the best retirement benefits and he's either already started or is already collecting his pension, which is somewhere around 40,000 per year fully vested.

Can someone move the draft info to a different thread? So we can focus on the recruiting info the thread title implies.

Yea, some of it was actually relevant at first, but this thing got derailed quickly.

Back on topic... so if Labissiere stays at UK (which he should bc he stinks), does that mean Bolden comes to OU? Or is Labissiere so bad that Bolden goes to UK and starts over him? Or does Labissiere go to the NBA anyways and ride the bench for 5 years?

Labissierre isn't the only one he is competing against for minutes if he goes there. Lee and Willis also returns and they already have adebayo, Gabriel and killeya-Jones committed.

Now the other guy who CB'd him to OU changed his prediction to foggy, so no more predictions for OU as of now.

anyone have an idea when he'll sign? (yeah the million dollar question...)

He said he wanted to commit before April so hopefully not too much longer. I know I shouldn't get my hopes up but logically I think we should be the choice.

Yeah, he was going to commit before the end of the year, too. April 15th starts the late signing period.

I'm guessing Duke

Lol I'm pretty biased. But from a completely objective POV I think we make the most sense. That doesn't mean we will be the choice.
