I don't disagree, but I hate that we drag these kids through the mud with vague statements like, "The reason he's leaving is not medical."

But my experience says that it's closer to the truth to say that we are more likely to remember the times that there was both smoke and fire, but that doesn't mean they happen more often. Instances in which there's been smoke but no fire are generally quickly forgotten.

He hasn't been eligible for any playing time yet, and won't/can't till the second semester, so it doesn't seem likely that is the issue.

If he's thinking of leaving, my guess is family matters (his child).

That is fair enough, but I can't recall a single time that a player was rumored to be out the door and didn't end up leaving. I expect it will be the case with Manyang as well, although that is a case where I am privy to some non-public information.

Grandstaff's transfer record back to his sophomore year in HS is quite impressive.

As I said, rumors that don't pan out are quickly forgotten.

There are have been many whiffs of smoke on the football boards that didn't, in the end, signify any existing fires.

And it's admittedly a matter of degree, but it's been floated here many times that Odomes was likely to leave. Those posts might not have qualified as "smoke" but they weren't far off.
