Matt Korchek.. JUCO PF/C..visiting OU

What was ridiculous about that comment? I thought I was being benign.

You don't think it possible that one or more players transfer out? Or are you saying that you couldn't find two that would be OK with you?

Two have already left under Kruger. Three if you count the Hardwick kid. Syracuse just announced 3 kids were transfering. Stoops just cut several loose.

Fair or not, these kids are all on one year ships. There is no confusion about that from either party. Every year they are expected to earn their way to another one.

Coaches can get a bad rap for spinning kids out for purely competitive purposes. Kruger probably doesn't make a habit of that. And I would be surprised if he ever did that with a kid he recruited and brought into the program.

But, this is a different deal. He didn't recruit or sign most of these players. He is under no legal, moral, or ethical obligation to keep any of them. Kruger is responsible from the program. If any of them have failed to meet his standards of performance, and if he can land someone that makes the team better, I would expexct him to make that move. Wouldn't you? Don't you want the team to be better sooner rather than later?

Who are the 4 you think he should cut?

Puma and Franklin are gone.
Blair, Fitz, Pledger, Ro and Grooms all have 1 season left.
Neal has 2 seasons left but he's the only local kid on the roster. This would look bad if LK asked him to leave.
This leaves Arent and Clark and I don't think Clark is one he would ask to leave. He's good at defense and rebounding and showed some offensive promise late in the season.

four kids are not leaving OU's team. There is no basis for the opinion that it might happen. It is just random speculation and it is not even logical.

Sure it is possible that several gusy will leave but I think it is hihgly unlikely.

I didn't predict that four players would leave . Never have and I've made several post on this topic. I did say if Kruger found 4 good players more than he had room for, I could come up with 4 that I could live without.

The 1st 2 are obvious, Blair and Neal. Niether of them are, have been, or will be anything other than ORU type talents. The other 2 would have have to be a choice depending on what position or positions that the new ones would occupy.

1. What does that have to do with anything? They were walkons.
2. Nick thompson had one season left.
3. Look bad? Would it look worse than 5-13?
4.I don't think Clark would or should leave either. Kruger recruited Arent.

The reason I listed Franklin and Puma was so I could make sure I listed the entire roster (I did not list M'Baye).

Good point on Thompson, but he was a JUCO and had only been here 1 year, whereas Fitz, Pledger and Blair are not. Grooms is, but we don't have another PG.

He isn't cutting anyone. I just don't see it.
We have two open scholarships we are struggling to fill right now.

And by "struggling", I mean, there are no obvious targets. Everybody is a bit of a gamble at this point, and all of the propsects I've seen highlighted lately (as targeted for this years's Spring signing period) have OU as simply a 'finalist' among a half dozen schools. If we can get one, they may turn out to be like Sam Grooms and contribute a lot. But we have other examples of late additions that haven't done nearly as much.

I think we'll get one for sure, but it is possible Lon won't even be able to sign two.
So why cut guys who, at the very least, have solid experience? Lon isn't going to.

Blair has been a disappointment as far as performance. He's probably the most obvious example of someone that could be cut. But he seems to be a good kid that plays hard and takes care of his business off the court. He's given us two years already. He deserves to play out his scholarship as a senior. Not just because he seems to have earned it, in spirit. But mostly because...there likely isn't anyone out there that is an obvous upgrade at this moment. And I'm sure he'll play better as a senior.

I think there's probably a lot we don't know about who is a realistic target and who isn't. After the previous regime I know it is tough, but at some point we just have to have some faith in our coaching staff to get some quality players in here.
