I'm going to get flamed for this, but maybe it's time for Sherri to retire.

18 years is a long time for a coach, especially one who is as stubborn and unwilling to change as she apparently is.

I'm not saying she isnt a good coach or that she hasn't been a great one. She is and has been and this university, program and we fans owe her more than we can ever repay.

But sometimes it's just time for a different challege. She loves to teach. She's a wonderful writer. She has her faith and family.

Maybe she needs a break or a change. I wouldnt blame her if she did.

I'd hate to see her go a couple more years like this, become more frustrated, bitter and perhaps mean and vindictive and become a failure, kinda like Kelvin Sampson did, and then get fired.

I really hope that wouldn't happen and she wouldn't let it happen. Maybe she could get bumped up to Assistant Athletic Director with a special teaching assignment. I'd love if she stayed the rest of her life at OU in some capacity.

And maybe I'm wrong.

But Stoops had to jump start his butt and he did it. Maybe Sherri will too.

If I were her, I'd skip the NIT and we aren't going to make the real tourney, so that isn't a problem. I'd think about some staff changes, roster changes and changes to what I've been doing and make any other changes that are needed.

And I turn on the heat and go big-time for the gold next season.

If you aren't willing to do that, it's just another sign you need to retire.

I think she needs to shake up her staff as Stoops did...She needs to hire a coach who can recruit with the best of them..

Some of you need to take a deep breath and step back away from the ledge...

YES I agree UNC was going down hill in it's program and recruitment then they hire Ivory Latta then recruitment went sky high.

I agree with making some staff changes, especially getting an ace recruiter. I just don't think Sherri will do that. She speaks highly of her present staff and believes in what they do for the program.

I don't either. Unless an assistant happens to leave for another job they will remain on the staff. I think the chances of Sherri firing one is zero.

Trust me Ivory Latta help

I don't know who Ivory Latta has been responsible for recruiting since her hiring in July 2013 to replace Stafford-Odom. I'll have to look into it, but I'm sure she will be a big help to that staff.

I just know Stafford-Odom was responsible for the current talent at UNC. She got commitments from the class that includes Deshields, Washington and Mavunga.

She been helping UNC recruiting for years now. She just wasn't on the staff

The stupidest thing I have ever read.

Of course you're right. But, whenever we are picked preseason to be the top team in the conference and turn out to be a team that has a losing conference record and very well may not make the NCAA tourney and, just got pounded by our little sister of the north, it isn't unexpected that fans will sound off.

there's not one young dynamic coach on the staff to help with recruiting which this program sorely needs.

I agree, I think the staff works hard but maybe they aren't connecting like they could. OU football went through this but they have turned the corner in relating better to kids it seems.

Pam and Jan are super boring. I can't assess their coaching, but I don't see a true recruiter on the team. I'm more concerned about player development. I don't feel players at OU improve substantially like they do at other elite programs. I like the adjustment Sherri tried to make in the game by sitting the players. I agree that there seems to be some basic conflict between Aaryn and the coaches. She sat considerably longer than the others. Apparently, if Aaryn isn't scoring, she's of no use on the court.

Bringing in an elite big or two is not only preferable for me, I think it's a must if OU expects to compete with the best teams on our schedule in the non-conference as well as the Big 12.

Teams with quality bigs have pounded OU inside in every game I have watched. Nicole is tall enough and she tries her best. She just doesn't have the bulk to bang down low, even against shorter post players. Besides, she's not what I would call an elite big by any means.

Question for the board. When was the last time Sherri signed an elite big? I can't think of one since the Paris twins were here.

I have another question for you. Does this team have any leadership? I have watched four or five games this season and I still haven't identified the leader(s) on this team. When Whitney Hand was around, I didn't have to ask that question.

One would expect the leader to be Ellenberg or Hook. But if they are, I haven't seen it. Certainly not the way Hand put her leadership ability on display. Judging by what I have seen, this team lacks leadership. If I'm right, that may explain the inconsistencies in the team's performance from one quarter to the next or one game to the next.

Is the answer for Sherri to retire or be replaced? Not in my opinion. But anyone who can't see that the program needs a transfusion of better and bigger players is in denial. If the assistants aren't putting OU in a position to do that, maybe it's time for them to go.

Also, this isn't football. This isn't even a mans game to be quite honest. Not saying the school doesn't care about womens basketball, not saying that at all, but this isn't football. This doesn't rev up a lot of money. I'm pretty sure firing Sherri or hoping she retires is close to dead last on the AD's to do list. Get a reality check she wouldn't get fired unless she went a season without winning five games.

Actually, Abi Olajuwon was a McDonald's All-American, and Griffin was a Parade All-American. Most teams don't get the elite centers. Although we seem to feel empty, we have had more luck than most teams other than Duke, UConn, Stanford, and Tennessee.

We do have what may well be an elite center coming into the program next year. Let's see how Vionnese Pierre-Louis performs, especially since we may well see some development from Kay Kay or Gibbs.

When we had Courtney, our problem was perimeter.
