M'Baye getting some 2013 NBA Mock Draft love

I can assure you that Sam is not surprised to see M'Baye on an NBA mock draft list. I remember him saying several months ago that Amath may be "one and done" after his first year at OU.

If he's even close to that good, the Sooners could have a much better year than most people think. With all five starters back, and presumed to be better than before, the addition of M'Baye and a pretty solid recruiting class should put OU in a position to improve on last year's record.

It's easy to believe that's possible when you think about how many close games we could have (and perhaps should have) won last season. A player like M'Baye and the the quality depth our three freshmen guards (and hopefully Bennett) brings to this team could be the difference in turning those losses into wins.

I'm starting to get alittle concerned about that too. He is 23 and kind of looks like an NBA type. He seems like just a great kid and I would want him to do what is best for him.

But, it would sure be nice to have a pretty good one around for a couple of years. I don't think we have one in house that would be ready to step in and replace a high performer.

Even if he were "draftable" next year, chances are it won't be in the lottery, which should = him coming back. To me, that is worst case for OU. I can't see him playing himself into the lottery, and I can't see him leaving if he isn't a lottery pick.

I also didn't realize his age. No wonder he looks so good in practice and stuff. He is older than most seniors. :)

It could very well be that way. I don't expect him to be a dominate player like Blake. I don't think he is that type of player nor would I project him to be that good.

But, I do think he is draftable. Because of his age, he might take second round money and move on. That is where my concern lies

He is older than most of the players. But, he didn't start playing basketball until he was 15 and he missed the 1st 10 games of his freshman year while his amateur status was being verified. Mayby some of that all evens out.

If, by chance, M'baye does leave for the draft it would rough for the program. Losing Pledger, Osby, Fitz, and M'baye in a single season would make for a rough 2013-14 season.

Here are some summer camp highlights of M'Baye.

They're at the 3:32 mark. Don't blink. :)

So we are now talking about mbaye maybe getting drafted.

How many of us have seen him play live in actual games? what were his numbers again at wyoming?

What were Stacy King's numbers his sophomore season?

No one's predicting that M'Baye will get drafted, but who's to say he won't? It could happen.

If by "we" you mean a random internet/blogger type that watched him play then I guess so. If by "we" that posters on this MB are saying this, then I think the answer is generally no. I think most on here are cautiously optimistic that M'Baye can come in and be a good player for us at a time when we really need good players. An opinion or two certainly doesn't create a consensus, but most of the people that post on here that have seen him play say that he is pretty good, now other people who have no real reason to "hype" the guy are saying that he may be an NBA draftable prospect. I could care less what he did at Wyoming, I care about how he can help OU. Osby certainly turned out to be better for OU than what his MSU stats would have indicated.

M'Baye put up good numbers at Wyoming. He put up 12 ppg and 5.7 rebounds per game as a sophomore. He had a year to work on his game and should have similar or better stats at OU.

Freakin' 5 and 7...

I hate you, NCAA and Mike Anderson.
