Memphis targeting Tubby Smith

Ive always like the guy. Would be a great step up from tech

I hope he gets it. He's a great guy and got totally hosed at Kentucky and Memphis is a lot better job than Tech. He deserves another really good job.

Looks like Tubby to Memphis is official. Just when Tech was getting some traction. Good luck to him. He'll do really well there. Sleeping giant type of basketball program (good facility, tons of fan support, fertile recruiting area). Tech will slide back into mediocrity unless they hire the right guy. Terrible basketball program...

This will be his second head coaching job in the deep south, From what I've read, he wasn't always treated well by the UK fans. Hope he fares better at Memphis.

So he can pass Kruger with Memphis making it to the tourney, but he didn't win a game with Tech right?

He's sure mellowed over the years which is good to see. When he coached at Tulsa, I'm sure he had to frequent the podiatrist often (the poor floor).

So someone please explain to me again why players have to sit out if they want to transfer?

Are you really comparing players to coaches?

Coaches are earning a salary, and this is their job/profession.

Players are supposed to be college students who also play basketball, on an amateur level.

Apples and elephants if you ask me.

if players were allowed to transfer without penalty, any parody would be gone and cheating would be even greater

Earing a salary directly off of the labor of the kids. And if it's amateur level, take the billions of dollars out of it. Make it amateur.

How about getting a free education off the basis of being able to put a ball through a hoop when the ones that are studying their butts off to become doctors, lawyers and so on are paying for every dime and leaving college with so much debt.

I bet you any college kid or kid not going to college would be happy to take any scholarship athletes place if they feel like they are getting a raw deal.

Those kids get scholarships too, some paid for by the athletes, and they don't directly make the university millions of dollars a year like the athletes do. How the hell do you think OU got the Money to Renovate the Stadium. From a Pre-Med student? Are the liberal arts students making OU enough money to pay Boren, Stoops, Kruger, and Castglione?

Its such a tough life making university money. All they get in return is free room and board, free books, free tuition, free supplements, free gym membership, free food and snacks, free clothes, free tutors, no debt when they leave college. Poor kids.

You want to add all that up over 4 or 5 years?

Ok then lets look at how much the schools and NCAA bring in each year per athlete then compare. I bet the NCAA and schools end up way ahead. Thats why they keep the system as is
