8.8 Billion Divided by 347 divided by 13 equals $1,950,786.97 the extension was for 8 more year so that is $243,848.37 per player in the NCAA per year. That just the CBS contract, that's not Fox or ESPN also.
Ok then lets look at how much the schools and NCAA bring in each year per athlete then compare. I bet the NCAA and schools end up way ahead. Thats why they keep the system as is
It doesn't matter how you multiply, divide or square root it, very few schools profit from their basketball programs.
I'm all for paying players. I say, take away scholarships and free room and board and trainers and so on.
Pay them a contract.
And from the money from the contract, they can pay for their own room and board, tuition, books, gym membership, and so on. They can pay taxes from it to.
Tuition is only running $10,000 for residents for 30 hours and $23,000 for non-residents per 30 hours. Plus rent, plus food, plus books for 4 years.
Let's see which life the kids end up choosing.
Ok, and since i just showed you a quarter of a million dollars a year per athlete just from the Tuner/CBS contract extension lets see what the choose.
if players were allowed to transfer without penalty, any parody would be gone and cheating would be even greater
What should their salary be per player? Since you clearly have the answers.
Those kids get scholarships too, some paid for by the athletes, and they don't directly make the university millions of dollars a year like the athletes do. How the hell do you think OU got the Money to Renovate the Stadium. From a Pre-Med student? Are the liberal arts students making OU enough money to pay Boren, Stoops, Kruger, and Castglione?

Take all the money from all these revenue sources. Divide it By two, Schools NCAA and Coaches get half, players get half. Then player negotiate salaries like it works in the NBA, NFL, MLB, etc. The models are already in place. The business of college athletics is already on par with the others.

I think you are kind of missing the point of what collegiate athletics is about for 99% of STUDENT athletes.
What you are describing is a professional league
missing the point
The point is, you make you boss lots of money and he compensates you. You feel like he doesn't compensate you fairly, or just want a change of scenery, you can go get another job at any time. The athletes nope. Everyone is free to leave for whatever reason but the athlete.

out of state tuition (year round not just 2 semesters) plus unlimited meals plus housing
at OU for sure runs north of 50k a year per kid ... and that doesn't count nutritionists strength coaches trainers not to mention bball facility's and basketball coaches ..
Is he paying the people that work at CBS...the refs, the light crew, the custodians, the agents these kids will hire and so on?
