So here we are at the mid point of the Big 12 season and OU finds it self on top of the standings .... here is a run down of what has happened and what is to come with an emphasis on the top 6 (texas is now bumped up into the top group)

1. OU 7-2
3-2 vs top 6 5 games remain 2 road/3 home @WVU @UT BU UT KU at home
0 dropped game (home loses or bottom 4 losses)
1 picked up game @BU (top 5 road win)

1. WVU 7-2
2-2 vs top 6 6 games remain 3/3 @KU @UT @BU BU OU ISU at home
1 dropped game home vs UT
1 picked up game @ISU

3. KU 6-3
3-2 vs top 6 5 games remain 3/2 @OU @BU @UT WVU ISU at home
1 dropped game OSU
0 picked up games

3. BU 6-3
1-3 vs top 6 6 games remain 3/3 @WVU @UT @OU ISU KU WVU at home
2 dropped games OU UT at home
1 picked up game @ISU

3. UT 6-3
3-1 vs top 6 6 games remain 2/4 @OU @ISU WVU BU OU KU at home
2 dropped games @tech @tcu
2 picked up games @WVU @BU

6. ISU 5-4
2-4 vs top 6 4 games remain 1/3 @BU @WVU @KU UT at home
2 dropped games BU WVU at home
0 picked up games

7. Tech 3-6
8. KSU 2-7
8. OSU 2-7
10. TCU 1-8

we have the easiest remaining schedule with only 2 top 6 road trips left and only 5 games ..

really need to take care of business against the bottom 4 .. and take care of home court ..

This is a smart way to break it down. Thanks, Boulder!

excellent post.

yeah, If we can win at home, go 1-1 on the road (against the top 5 but the rest of the road isn't "easy"..minus tcu) I'd think we'd have an excellent shot at taking the title.

Obvious choice to WIN THEM ALL!!!!

If we sweep at home and go 1-1 against Texas and WVU, we'll be 15-3 and absolutely win the league

5 of our 9 remaining games are on the road, and it's not easy to win against any B12 team on their court. We play Texas 2 times and they're much better now than they were at the beginning of conference play. The 1 game we must win is against KU on 2/13 at home. The other one that would really help to win is at WVU.

Agree. OU is tied at the top with WVU. The Mountaineers have two advantages.

1. WVU has 4 road games remaining, OU has 5.
2. WVU plays OU in Morgantown.

OU has a big advantage ... OU has the better team. They need to execute and play like it.

It's odd to me that WVU is really the only team that scares me at this point, and that includes Kansas.

I'm pretty confident in saying that WVU will lose in the Phog. There is a good chance as well that they lose in Austin (given that Texas already beat them in Morgantown).

That will push them to 4 losses. If we lose to them in Morgantown, that'd still leave us with a one game lead heading into the final 4 games of the season.

We'd have: OSU, @Texas, Baylor, @TCU

They'd have: Iowa State, @OSU, Texas Tech, @Baylor

It'd be almost a guarantee at that point that we'd (at the very least) share the Big 12 title.

Take care of business in our last 4, or if WVU drops one of their last 4, and we win it outright.

Could go either way

Every game is a big game, and that is how it should be. The biggest game for OU right now is this Saturday in Manhattan, Kansas. I am confident that the Sooner veteran players will give it their all. That is all we can ask.

Obviously if OU plays to their potential they'll be fine...but it's a game and anything can happen.

The order of worry for me is:

ku, they still are ku
ut, they've come on strong, have good guards and pretty decent bigs
wv..just cause we play there - which team shows up?

Our games:
@ ksu - tough one, should be a win
ut - another tough one, but at home...big Monday. Win
ku - ugh ANOTHER tough one at home again...revenge? Win
@ tt - Win
@ wv - I put this with @ ut, tough, which wv shows?
osu - home, Win - not as close at osu
@ ut - as stated - tough game on road, if we haven't lost this might be the 1
bu - home...hopefully they play the 1-3-1 again! Win
@ tcu - Win

so like most, @ ksu, ku, @wv, @ut even ut at home are the pivotal games.

As I fan I can overlook an opponent :) I'm not overly worried about KSU. Especially with them losing their starting PG. I realize upsets happen, but that game isn't any tougher than the road games at TT and TCU.

The 3 games that worry me the most are KU, @WVU and on the road at Texas. If OU wins 2 of those 3, they should win the conference championship.

While I agree that this is a game that OU should absolutely win, it's far more difficult than the game @ TCU. K-State is a solid team, especially on defense.

I respect your opinion, but I think KSU losing Stokes really hurts them. They may still be more solid than TCU but Tubby has a decent team at Tech, so that one is a push.
