Miles Reynolds visiting this week

I think there’s some appeal with playing in the B12 which is generally recognized as the toughest basketball conference. If a player wants to play against the best, he has a chance to do so at OU. Plus Kruger has had good teams historically as evidenced with a recent Final Four appearance.

Ada,

I see your point, but he's got a point as well...maybe didn't say it quite right, but if my kid had a choice between Duke and OU, wouldn't even be a second thought.

Now, not sure if the kid has the opportunity at Duke or not...

I love OU but after this past season it's definitely got to be on a lot of kid's minds "what is going on at OU?" vs "I can't wait to get there".

I agree, he does have a point. I definitely get the part about a recruit picking Duke over OU, especially after a once promising season fell apart at the end. Heck, even I called last season a dumpster fire. Putting thst aside, I will continue to defend his right to express his opinion about controversial issues, as I have done for nearly a decade.

My issue with cjhsooner centers around his constant negativity. He rarely has a good thing to say about the program, the players or our coaches. He seems to delight in being critical of nearly everything to get a rise out of fans like us who don’t have to search too hard to find some positives. To me, that’s the definition of a troll who is here to get people riled up, or a very unhappy poster who may need to find another school to support,. Check his posting profile and you will see what I mean.

I’ll admit that I’m just getting older and crankier. Maybe it’s time for me to ride off into the sunset. Do you have a guitar I can borrow? ;)

If you have only 1 year and your goal is a title, of course right now you'd go to Duke over OU. That doesn't make this program a dumpster fire by any stretch. The absurdity of his statement obscures the valid point he was trying to make.

Question for people close to the recruiting scene

Of the guys we are "in on" which are the most likely candidates to be Sooners next season?
I understand I am asking a speculative question, I'm just curious which players seem most likely to be Sooners?

Calixte and Cunningham

Our issue not just yours. Troll that doesn't show his undies.

If OU gets the opportunity to take both, would they take both? Or is this an either-or situation?

I think they want both.

Or bring in 3 guys total. No idea if it will be these 2 or Juco pg or Martin from CSU

Most guys want to play for a winner but they also want to play. In general no matter what you are doing Duke is the winner over OU. The only exception is if your a great football player but I'd argue you are still better off going to Duke. The league will find you anywhere and that degree is more valuable.

Get Cremo and Taylor! ;)

Taylor was never an option, never returned our calls. He just committed to Northwestern, most believe for their grad school stuff, which would make sense. Taylor was a Trae Young type player without all the talent nor passing ability. He shoots a ton and the ball was always in his hands.

Cremo I don't think is an option either. OU's not in the grad transfer market just to be there, they want players who want to come here. Reynolds wanted to come here and he wants to get better and wants to contribute. Those are players OU is after, and the fans should want as well. Enough of the possibly talented players who are there to showcase their talent and then leave. Got to get guys who are gym rats.

Hopefully we land Austin during his visit this upcoming weekend.

Austin trice cancelled his visit to ou unless you've heard something new

I think you may mean Maine grad transfer, Aaron Calixte. He’s scheduled to visit OU on the 13th. Austin Trice cancelled his visit to OU this weekend. He committed to KSU last weekend.

If Calixte commits, our coaches will have the true point guard they want, as well a solid back up in Reynolds who can also play the two.

If you are trying to make a career playing or coaching football you would have to be out of your mind to choose duke over ou. You will cost yourself millions in guaranteed money in the draft, because your production will suffer as a focal point of the opponent’s game plan. Your teammates will not be very good, so you won’t have to push yourself as hard due to the lack of competition. The facilities are trash compared to ou. The potential connections you would make for a career in coaching would be significantly better at ou. If you want to be a doctor or something then yeah go to duke.

Ya that part of the post was crazy.

I haven't noticed that guys from lesser programs get paid less in the draft.
You probably do get a better chance with connections to coaching if you want to coach although David Cutcliffe is very highly regarded as a coach. Most guys don't go into coaching.
I did say unless you are a great player and very likely to make the league. Although still most of those guys we think are great recruits still don't make it.
I have two degrees from OU and have done great but it is no comparison to Duke.

Lincoln Riley was a walk on at Texas Tech and he did just fine in the coaching rise. Of course job number two was East Carolina which must be a power.

If you are going as a one year grad transfer, you aren't going to be receiving a degree from Duke unless you are an outstanding student and even then you stretching it with a Masters degree in 1 year.

A talented guy who would start at duke or ou football will be drafted higher coming out of ou 10 times out of 10. More exposure, better coaching, better teammates, and better facilities = more guaranteed money.

USC Upstate grad transfer Mike Cunningham will visit Oklahoma (4/19), Oklahoma State (4/22) and Louisville (4/25), per a source. Decision to come soon after.
