Mitchell Freaking Solomon - Averaged 1.2 points and 2.7 rebounds per game on 11 minutes per game (actually 10.9) as a freshman. This phenom from Bixby has really stepped up his game as a sophomore, playing 18.8 minutes and averaging 3.3 points and 4.1 rebounds per game. The Bixby Bomber can do it all hitting an impressive .143 from 3 point range. He started the season hot like Hield going 1-2 from three and has failed to connect since that time but he is not shy about jacking up the threes to drive his shooting percentage down to 14.3% while hurting his team in the process. Since the start of Big XII play (plus Florida) his production is steadily decreasing with his scoring average dropping from 4.8 points per game to 3.3 (a shocking 33% decrease in offensive production when playing against respectable D-1 talent (assuming of course that but experts feel it is likely he can get that under 2.5 points per game by post season. When faced with solid competition, the Bixby Bomber wilts. Mitchell Freaking Solomon, the man, the legend, the Bixby Bomber or should we just say the one that got away.
Lattin on the other hand averaged 11.9 minutes per game as a freshman, averaging 3.2 rebounds and 2.0 ppt. Lattin actually has stepped up his game as a sophomore to average 22.4 minutes per game, 6.6 points per game and 6.9 rebounds per game. Most impressively he leads the Big XII in blocks. In Big XII play Lattin has stepped it up againl, averaging 9.75 rebounds per game and 7.75 points per game. Of course he will never match the Bixby Bomber because he simply cannot play that slowly while at the same time actually being out of control turning the ball over and fouling at an excessive rate.
Young Khadeem should not fret over his situation, few can match the skill set of Mitchell Freaking Solomon, aka the one that got away.
