Mulkey. Enjoy!!!

Let's forget about the FACT that you just compared being gay to thieves and liars (wrong forum) and look at the FACT that Brittney stated in the recruiting process that she was gay. Let's look at the FACT that KM told her that she didn't care and it wasn't an issue. Let's look at the FACT that after Brittney came on campus she was either actively or passively encouraged not to be openly gay. Let's look at the FACT that gay kids are kicked out of Baylor all of the time; simply for the reason of being gay.

I don't have a problem with KM recruiting gay players; I'm happy that she does. I do have a problem with either her or someone in the university making sure that it is clear that they can't be open. I do have a problem that she works for a Christian organization and yet acts and speaks the way that she does. I do have a problem that she doesn't follow the very code of conduct that each student there has to sign and abide by.

Baylor code of conduct states in part:

As used in this document, the term misconduct refers to personal behavior on or off campus that (1) interferes with Baylor's pursuit of its educational and Christian objectives,

Contemptuous or disrespectful behavior (I certainly don't need to cite examples here!)

Lewd or indecent behavior (showing your undergarments in public would apply here)

Expression that is inappropriate in the setting of Baylor University and in opposition to the Christian ideals it strives to uphold. (Cursing, calling out players, everyone of her press conferences)

Cohabitation. Baylor defines cohabitation as a male and female living together who are not married to each other. (so much for your unmarried sex example)

You can keep on worshiping at the altar of KM and keep criticising Sherri for not being like her. By doing so you've made it abundantly clear that you are a win at all cost, low morals type of guy. So don't get bent out of shape when you get called on it.

The only areas in which I have said Kim excels over Sherri is in recruiting and she wins at a higher level. The second is directly tied to the first. I think most here who know basketball agree with me. I strongly believe if Sherri recruited like Kim does we would have some national championships too.

I don't think any coaches should use profanity around the team. That goes for Kim, Art Briles, Sherri Coale, Bob Stoops, etc. But, I don't hate them because they do.

I suspect that every school in America has gays. The fact that Baylor does should not come as a complete shock to anyone.

Let me ask you a question. What do you think Sherri would have done if Stacy Dales would have gone to Sherri and said she was gay and she thought everyone should hear the good news and tomorrow she was going to meet with some reporters so she could get this information out to the public? Do you really think Sherri would have said, "You're right, that is something we need to let everyone know about and I'll be there with you?"

Someone told me to google "kim mulky trash" and see what pops up...So I did....and there was her encounter at the Texas game, and I can't believe NOTHING has been done about what she did/said....It is just brushed under the rug???? Can't believe Texas isn't doing something with this....I just smh on anybody that defends her, after seeing that video. KM is sick and she needs help....(and I'm saying that in a nice way)

Well, of course it wouldn't have happened because it was a different era. BUT the one player on that team who did come out later as gay, Rosalind Ross, was, at the time of her death, about to return to the University of Oklahoma as a recruiter.

I compare this to Baylor and KM's treatment of Griner when she did come out.

I don't think anyone is going to defend the stupid things she does or says.

Don't allow the era to have a bearing. Assume Gabbi Ortiz did the same thing today. What do you think Sherri would do?

Let's tilt at windmills shall we? This thread is about KM. If you want to start a hypothetical thread about what Sherri would or wouldn't do, have at it.

I'm sure every school does have gays; what's your point? Not every school kicks them out just for being who they are. Not every coach tells their gay recruit, no problem; at a school where it is seen as a big problem.

Google KM and see how many negative stories come up in the first couple of pages. Google any other coach in the women's game and do the same. No comparison.

KM broke the rules recruiting; so again; in your own words; you have stated that you are fine with the win at all costs methods that KM uses. So if we don't agree with your win at all cost beliefs, we don't know basketball. Alrighty then.

I think Sherri and OU would be very supportive of any player that went public about being gay.

Neither does Baylor as long as students stays out of trouble.

Prove it.

Well I'm not providing to some random stranger on the internet the names and contact information of 12-13 guys I know personally that were kicked out for being gay since 2000 so I guess you'll just have to take my word for it.

Here are a couple of articles for your viewing pleasure.

I'm sure you'll argue semantics on this one but oh well:

Does anybody who posts in this thread actually watch the games of the NCAA tournament?

Sad.

I can guarantee they were not kicked out for being gay. They may have gotten kicked out for gay activities they participated in but no one gets kicked out for just being homosexual. Heterosexuals could also get kicked out for taking part in certain sexual activities as well.

Again that is an incorrect statement.

It's amazing to me that some on here can defend KM, and profess that they would welcome her at OU as the HC of the women's program.

She is an embarrassment to her profession. Not just me saying this either, our own Berry Tramel had something to say along those lines....

Kim Mulkey: Losing a game, losing your dignity
by Berry Tramel Modified: April 6, 2013 at 3:30 pm • Published: April 1, 2013

The Brittney Griner era ended Sunday night in Oklahoma City. Griner, Baylor’s 6-foot-8 giant who is to women’s basketball what Wilt Chamberlain was to men’s basketball 55 years ago, went out with class. Baylor lost to Louisville 82-81 in a massive upset, but Griner played maybe not well by her standards, but fiercely and with pride and with dignity.

The same cannot be said of her coach. Kim Mulkey is a polarizing figure. But there can be no polar opinions on Mulkey’s actions Sunday night after Louisville’s victory. Mulkey embarrassed her sport.

Mulkey asked media to query her about the officiating, then ripped the officials for a variety of calls and the overall tone of the game. “The game started out way too physical,” Mulkey said. “I thought all three of (the officials), if they go past this round of officiating, it’ll be sad for the game.”

You want to know why leagues and organizations and conferences discipline coaches and players who criticize officiating? That’s why, right there. Because they will lose their minds and question the integrity of the game. Which is why Mulkey should be in line for a hefty fine.

Mulkey’s actions weren’t limited to the press conference. When Baylor was whistled for an offensive foul late in the game — not too long after Louisville coach Jeff Walz was given a technical foul for sitting on the scorer’s table — Mulkey went nuts. She tried to rip off her jacket, though it didn’t come off all that easy. She appeared to be out of her mind. No joke, I thought she was going to disrobe right there on the court.

Mulkey is a great coach. Of that there is no doubt. And I know coaches are so sold-out to their ballteams, that emotions quickly take over in the heat of games. So I’ll give her a pass for the on-court theatrics, though I would have given her a technical, too. *(But did anyone notice that Mulkey did NOT get T'd up??? Shame on the officials for letting a ***** like her intimidate them!)* Losing your cool should be the standard definition of what warrants a technical, and Mulkey lost her cool.

But the press conference tirade, 15, 20, 30 minutes after the game, whatever it was, is inexcusable. That’s not emotions taking over. That’s entitlement. That’s nonsense. Coaches have been losing big games for decades, and many of them are still peeved well after the game, often at the refs. But most of them, male and female, have the grace to lose with dignity.

Mulkey did not.
She’s a great example of why certain rules are necessary. Left unfettered, you can’t trust some coaches to act right.

I'd forgotten about that column. It's not normally like BT to write something that the majority of the OU Nation would agree with so much.

It's more likely that their columnists would deliberately write something absurd like Carlson did on how Mulkey "isn't so bad...." They usually love to tweak the OU fan base, in part because almost none of their writers went to OU. And they do seem to be terrified of the "OU Homer" label, and often try to overcompensate for any perceived bias.
