unless he feels significantly better than expected in pregame, according to Lon in his pregame comments to Tony. This injury must be worse than they originally thought because they initially expected him to play last weekend, and were sure he'd be able to play tonight. This is going to be a very tough game, especially on the boards, because they have two very good bigs.

you're like the grim reaper.

Because I reported what the coach told Toby and said I think it'll be a tough game against their bigs? Check my posting history, I would have to say I'm one of the more positive posters on the board.

Entertain the idea he was joking.

wow. relax. I was just yankin' yer chain.

Would love to have him but would rather make sure he is completely healthy. Keep finding a way to win without him and it only helps us for conference play.

Jamuni vs. Southern California

14 ... Minutes

His +/- was +14 ... 2nd best on the team behind the +16 posted by Christian James.

Where did you find the +/-?

Thanks

Well, that does it for me. Muni coming back from an injury had his worst games of the season. CJ was not at his best in scoring either.

That stat is bogus or I’m clueless about how it should be applied to a player’s performance. :facepalm

Apparently, the +/- stat attempts to provide a measure of how the TEAM does when a particular player is on the court.

What is Basketball Plus-Minus?
https://www.sportingcharts.com/dictionary/nba/basketball-plus-minus.aspx

So, apparently, the OU TEAM had its best scoring runs vis-a-vis the USC TEAM when CJ and/or JM were ON the floor .... and USC had their best scoring runs when CJ and/or JM were OFF the floor.

Looking around the web, it also seems that there are variations on the Plus-Minus stat, such as the Box Plus/Minus ...

https://www.basketball-reference.com/about/bpm.html

As a member of the old school, the best stat is still the SCOREBOARD.

in short spurts it may or may not mean any thing especially for a back up (ie they come in for 2 min and the team hits 3 3's)

but for impact players it can matter a lot and shows itself over the course of the season (think westbrook for the thunder the last few years they were very good with him on the court and terrible when he rested)

Thanks, Guys! I’ll try to understand the plus/minus stats rather than close my mind to them completely.

then you're doing better than I. I thought the old numbers worked fine. silly new math.

Not really. I said I would “try” to understand them. I like the old methods better.
