Need More Talent

Joe C wanted to build one a couple years ago but got turned down by the city council. I think the priorities will be on baseball and softball first. But I bet when the SEC move happens a basketball arena will be proposed and probably similar to the one Joe C wanted.

I thought Joe C wanted the city of Norman to pay for that, Thats never going to happen.

If you get more funding with the SEC move then deals like that would have a better shot at happening.

On the flip side, will Gibson Hill or Harkless transfer? You know coaches are after them behind the scenes. Harkless and Gibson may not be allowed to move around again.

Gibson is 24 years old and will either be playing professional basketball next year or on a coaching staff somewhere as a graduate assistant. Time to get his career started. Really love him, but it's probably time. I'm betting Harkless does the same.

Hill has been a solid 3 year contributor for us and should stay for his senior year. He is not part of the talent issue.

Though very few on the board would acknowledge it, none of those three are.

Agree on two of the three. Still haven’t seen anyone point to an area where Harkless has even average talent or skill. Plays hard and defends well, but he struggles with every single offensive skill (dribbling, passing, shooting). He is absolutely a guy who can help a team as an energy guy playing 15-20 minutes, but if he is starting regularly when your roster is healthy, IMHO that is definitely a sign that the talent needs upgrading.

So, I'm clairvoyant, then? ;)

Cool. So those three starters aren't the problem. We have another starter that is leading the team in scoring, despite recent struggles. And I was told Goldwire was a great option from DUKE.

So if they aren't the talent problem, and it's not Cortes or Noland, then please tell me exactly why we look like the worst team in the Big 12 at times?

Harkless has absolutely been a problem this year.
Gibson is shooting his lowest percentage from 3 in his career. That is a problem. Maybe not a talent problem, but a production problem for sure.

You asked a question, then answered it yourself before I had a chance to respond.

I am thinking 4 new starters next season. At least three if we can get a major upgrade at the point. Please get some scorers. Scoring in the 50's every game is pathetic.

We need to bring in better talent. Everyone on this team is replaceable. Find more talent.

Trying to get a team together when we lost so much was gonna be rough. I think a lot of people here thought going in that this team would have so much more offensive talent than they have.

Need to start playing for next year. The three most important players for next season on the current team are Bijan and Groves bros. Should roll out a starting lineup of Goldwire, Bijan, Mo/Harkless, Jacob, and Tanner.

Totally understand the comments that everyone is replaceable, but OU might not get anyone better in the portal. What does OU have to offer at the moment to a potential player in the portal? Not much. The team needs internal development and it needs to start with the players that aren't seniors.

I can't remember who, but there are actually posters on this board who mock others for suggesting this team needs more talent.

We'll be much better when we get a full offseason and not lose all of the top players.

Didn't realize this was a morning game time in CA and missed it. Saw the score and that was deprressing?
Outside of maybe K-State who can OU beat the rest of the season?
The offense seems to be stuck in the 1950s mode.

Just heard on the radio that one of the Boone brothers referred to us as their little brothers in the post game press conference. Wonder where he got that from....

I wouldn’t mind someone like big rick throwing an elbow in his face next time we play them.

They are very annoying. I hate losing to anything wearing orange....
