Need More Talent

Anyone know of any more names for the spring period in recruiting? Maybe a big?

I guess their offer to the PG means they don't think Cortes or Mason will be the answer as sophs, and I guess it'd be a tall order for Uzan to take the reigns as a true frosh. Is carrying 4 points normal? Wouldn't think so. I mean if one can be a true combo that would be one thing. Like Mo here lately doing some PG duties...

Will be interesting to see how the roster shakes out this offseason.

The juco is more of a 2 guard

Little odd but porter doesn’t do official visits during the season. As of right now. I can’t confirm that but tons of unofficials.

Have to see who is leaving.

Really? He's had lots of guys in on unofficials lately? Anyone of note?

That’s disappointing. He needs to be a pg to be most effective at his size. I like his athleticism especially at pg.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Two of the incoming freshmen are shooting guards. I guess we won't know if it's good or not until we find out who is returning and who isn't..

I believe Uzan is a 6’4’’ point guard and was recruited as a point guard. Rated the No. 16 point guard and No. 119 overall prospect in 247Sports’ composite rankings, Uzan holds offers from Arizona State, TCU, Texas Tech and UCLA among a plethora of others.

the german kid is a 6'7 already and the Uweh kid depending on where you look might be 6'6 already ...

so i think you might be able to play all 4 of them at once ..

Given the fact it doesn't appear he's ever spent time in the weight room trying to get stronger, why would you assume he's spend time on the other stuff?

So OU makes all of their players lift except T Groves?

Lol. You can’t be serious…

I’ve lost track but are we recruiting any post players for the late signing period?

Groves hasn't been in Norman all that long, and most programs don't have an aggressive weight program DURING the season. So we aren't talking about what he's done at OU, we're talking about what he's done (or hasn't) before OU.

It's not that uncommon for smaller schools to not push stuff like that. And Groves didn't need to get stronger in that conference. I think we can all agree he does to play in the Big 12.

He’s gained 20lbs since high school. Eastern Washington might not have the facilities OU has, but that doesn’t mean they don’t push just as hard in the weight room. Groves doesn’t seem like the guy that’s not going to push himself to get better.

Did Moser not push his guys as hard at Loyola because they are in a smaller conference?

If he is busting his butt in the weight room, whatever he's doing ain't cutting it. I've seen Chinese ping pong players with bigger guns that him. I've been in gyms and lifted my entire life, and in every gym there's guys in there that don't know what the hell they're doing, whether it be form, intensity, nutrition, etc. You know, i've really never seen any OU bball players really develop that much physically from signing to leaving over the last 10 years. Sure, they get ready made bodies like Goldwire sometimes. Maybe they're just not recruiting the athletes for it. But, maybe Moser needs to look at what OU's doing in that department. OU looks like the physically weaker team overall in almost every game they play.

McNease is the 1st that comes to mind.

Moser has been here for 10 months. What ever happened or didn't happen in the weight room under Lon has no bearing on what Moser will or wont do.

That was precisely my point. He inherited it, and he was drinking through a firehose when he first arrived. Once he has some time to observe/reflect, maybe he needs to change it. When he was interviewed early on, he talked about getting stronger and more physical many times. Seems pretty important to him. Probably even more now that he's seen the reality of the Big 12.

That’s not the news I was hoping to get on this kid!

Oh, well. I complimented our staff for getting in on him early, but in reality the Ducks staff beat them to it.

Your points have merit. But, overall your post is way to harsh. Cortes is a freshman, and the Groves are new to this level of basketball. Fairness dictates we wait and see what they look like next year. May have a difference of opinion on them.

Agree however, we need more height with strength. Really, not just in the post but also on the wing.

Basketball is by design gives everyone the same number of possessions regardless of pace. Thus, as my dad, the successful basketball coach, used to say, it really comes down to turnovers, shooting percentage and offensive rebounding.

OU is struggling with all three of these areas. So, I agree that we need some offensive players and real size. But, I think I see a lot of potential in the current roster if the players will get in the weight room and gym enough in the off season. I do see us struggling the rest of the year. I think the future is bright.

Agree totally, never recruit a project again, no post players under 6’10” and 250 lbs unless he is another Tisdale.
