This debate doesn't really matter. OU just needs to win in Ames tonight and then keep winning. Everything will take care of itself.

Agreed. And the difference between a 2 & a 3 isn't that meaningful anyway.

I agree but the difference between a 3 and 4 does matter and the difference between a 3 and 5 is quite significant.

While I agree this debate is pretty pointless at the moment, the difference between a #2 and #3 can be pretty meaningful depending on how you look at it. In the last 30 tournaments, the 2 seeds have won 94% of their first round games and advanced to the second weekend 78% of the time. Contrast that to #3s who have won 85% of their first round games and only 63% have advanced as far as the Sweet 16.

Throw in the geographical advantages the committee now tries to build in for the top 8 seeds, and I'd argue there's a pretty sizable difference between a 2 and a 3.

I am VERY interested in seeing OU keep the 3 seed. Dropping to a 4 is not preferred.

OUr seed will be determined before the Big-12 tourney is done. I think if we split these next 2 games and win 1 in the tourney then we are a solid 3. Lose both the next 2 and lose 1st round then we drop. Win both and win 1st round then we move up the S curve but stay a 3 unless 3 teams ahead of us just absolutely fall apart.

Back to the original bracket, agree keeping a 3 would make me happy. Don't want to fall to 4 or below, some tricky games can be had in the 2nd round there.

Sign me up for Georgia St. and SMU in our bracket if we get that 3 seed. Would be happy with that

I think OU has a much better chance (maybe something like 50% greater) of making the Sweet 16 as a 3 seed, opposed to a 4.

I've been pretty down on this OU season as a whole, but with a 3 seed, I think they have a decent shot at the Sweet 16.

Since the Tourney went to 64 teams, we haven't gotten to the Sweet 16 once in seven chances as a #3, #4 or #5 seed. Even worse, we only have 3 wins in those games. As a result, I'm not sure if it matters which seed we get. It's simply about time we got two victories in the Dance as a high seed.

As for our chances as a #2 if we win out...YES, I believe we'll have earned a #2 with a 25-8. Conversely, I only see us as a #5 seed if we finish 20-11.

It's a message board. I've seen far more inane debates recently than this one.
