New C.J. Washington Facebook Post says he has committed to OU

Welcome to Sooner Nation CJ!!! Way to go Jeff, keep up the good work!

Great to see a new Sooner, welcome aboard CJ!

If we can add Thompson then our big man rotation with him, Washington, Fitzgerald and Honore will be decent. Not saying they'll be great by any means, but it wouldn't be disastrous.

Would be nice to also add another big like Majok and a point like Newell or Lloyd. Would love Watkins, but don't think we're in the mix with him or even Majok for that matter.

I agree 23, a rotation of Fitz, Honore, CJ and Thompson is serviceable. Assuming all 4 are willing to work hard, put in the time and play team ball/defense it will work for next year.

Everything I have heard about this young man has been positive, welcome aboard!

Boomer Sooner.

I have a feeling he'll produce more than that Azizy dude.

He states that he has committed to OU and he hopes to sign Friday.

Yes!! Thank goodness for good news. Any decent big is good news to me, but Washington seems like exactly what we need. I still think we need another player in the 6'8 - 6'11 range. But this is a start.

If OSU can play Moses/Pilgrim, maybe we can play Washington/Fitz and get away with it a little bit.

Good pickup. I'm excited.

Found this brief scouting report from Van Coleman on Washington:

http://www.hoopmasters.com/article.php?aid=1269382815

Athletic 225-pound power man averaged 21.3 points and 13.5 rebounds in games we watched. He was all over the glass and finished everything in close. Has quicks to defend the high post four spot. He should get lots of mid and high major looks this spring.

If nothing else it sounds like he'll be a glass cleaner. I like it.

I like this pick up. C.J. is another Oklahoma kid who wanted to be a Sooner. That means a lot to me. But he can also play a little. He led #4 ranked nationally Conners State in scoring and rebounding last season. In addition to his 19.2 ppg scoring average, he should be a great addition on the boards.

Here's a brief report on his stats I found that might interest fans who are not familiar with C. J.:

Washington rewrote the school's record books this season.

His 26 rebounds against Murray State College broke the previous single-game mark of 21 by Simeon Haley in 1993. His average of 12.9 rebounds was better than the 12.8 by Elmore Spencer in 1989-90 and the 413 rebounds moves to the top of the all-time single-season list, replacing Sam Haley's 384 in 1992-93.

Also averaging 19.2 points per game, Washington also becomes the seventh player in Connors history to score 1,000 points and finished with 1,057 in his two years in the program.
