NIL Strategy

I am in favor of a new coach. But something else to consider is you may have to pay the buyout to get a coach from another school. Again, most likely going to have to ask for donations.

I thought the nil was now running through the schools such that Nagy does for football. Maybe different donation pools, but still asking donors for money. They may want a new coach and donate to that instead of the nil fund.

I think it switched to that for a minute, then switched away from it when the internal revenue sharing became a thing.

This. Resources have to be in place to get a good coach that has options.

If we found a diamond in the rough, they would either fail...or they would succeed and somebody with resources would come along and poach them after a short run of success. And we're not going to succeed hiring diamond in the rough coaches every 3 years.

which coaches have been poached from ou after a short run of success?

Man, did this tread get hijacked. All these posts and not one person posted how they eould build a roster with 8-10 million

Porter is back. I vote we move on and find something else to discuss

We probably need 12-15 million to build a roster capable of competing in the top half of the SEC. We actually need 20 million to overcompensate for the obvious coaching failures that have cost us 5-6 games every year.

These are the alleged NIL numbers for the SEC. If those are true (and Dennys interview seemed to allude to that) if we can just get to 10 mil-12 mil range i think you'll see some good things happen. We seem to get decent guards.....if we could get 2 really solid bigs and one legit scorer to go with what we have done the last couple of portal classes I think we could do some damage.

But who knows.

Kentucky: $20 million

– Vandy: $10 million +

– Florida: $10 million +

– Texas A&M: $10 million +

– Arkansas: $10 million +

– Missouri: $10 million +

– Tennessee: $10 million +

– Auburn: $10 million +

– Texas: $10 million +

– Georgia: $8-10 million

– LSU: $8-10 million

– Mississippi State: $8-10 million

– Alabama: $8-10 million

– Ole Miss: $8-10 million

– Oklahoma: $6.5 million

– South Carolina: $5.5 million

Yes. I would be happy to again have enough money to build a roster like we had this season and one that played like we played in February and March. I am not (and I don’t think anyone is) asking to suddenly get 2 byes in the postseason conference tournament. Since we are keeping Porter the only thing I would add is a hypnotist who is knowledgeable about basketball.

The cost goes up every year. The good news is, it goes up for everyone, not just OU. That’s why I think the target should be $12 million. That puts us on par with everyone except Kentucky.

We better hire a GM as part of the alleged commitment to basketball. Loser needs all the help he can get.

what would a gm do to help moser win more games?
his biggest deficiency is in game coaching.
he seems to do a decent job of identifying talent.
do gm's tell coaches who to start and who/when to sub?

Eh. He has had a couple good rosters in five years. Retention also hasn’t been good. Much better coaches than Moser have a GM. I mean, most people on this board seem to love Brent and think he is a good recruiter, but they hired someone to run roster management and the portal. I don’t think Moser is above that.

doubt it would translate into more wins

If we can take that off Mosers plate, it would help him focus on just coaching. Plus, while he’s working on gameplan, coaching, teaching, the GM could be working contacts and finding players to build rosters while also talking with donors and finding the money. We need a GM so the coaches can focus on coaching.

every thread... every single one of them.

the difference from 6.5 to 10 is 2 more nigel pack type guys. or 2.5 more reids/Davis types/ Or 1 Acuff (maybe tad less)

I don’t think we can afford a real center. That Brazile kid cost 15 million for Arkansas. I don’t know if that’s a 2 year deal or not but that’s still out of our price range.

We need an elite PG and some long (multiple) athletic post players for starters. How much will that cost?
