@MarcusHelton: Oklahoma has offered DeMatha (Md.)/DC Blue Devils 2016 G Markelle Fultz. #DMVhoops @MarkelleF

FYI

Is he considering us? Looks like a lot of big offers. Love OU. But realistic.

Screw that. We can't sell ourselves short. If we are a top 20 program, then we need to go after some of the best. Maybe you get one of them, maybe you don't...but you'll never get one if you don't try.

Yesterday was the first I've heard of him. He has 21-22 offers.

To my knowledge, mcgusty is the target and brunk but we can still take one more. Obviously they think they have a shot if throwing an offer out there.

Looks to me that we are wanting to take 2 PG. Payton being 1 and then a PG/SG combo.

We actually have 5 open scholarships after next year. Potentially 6 pending CJ Cole graduating and moving on. So we could take Pritchard, McGusty, Brunk, Fultz, and at least another player no problem.

Youre missing Kristian Doolittle.

Also I could see Bola getting a ship.

No chance Bola gets a ship. You can give him one his senior season if you have a free one available. Scholarships are too valuable to hand out to walk-ons. You're seeing that now with C.J. Cole.

Saying "No chance" may come back to bit you...

Lon Kruger thinks walkons, glue guys, smart kids deserve them at times. You cant have 13 guys that think they are starters.

preferred and recruited walkons get ships at times..Not saying it will but its possible.

CJ won't have a scholarship in 2016. He was fortunate to keep his for next year.

is this fact or projection?

I can't see lon pulling a kids scholarship for not breaking any team rules. CJ is a good Kid, seems to work hard, and is an excellent student. Lon won't punish any of that just because he might not be as good at basketball as the other 12 scholarship guys on the team.

There's a good chance he won't be here next year. Med school is the next step in life for him.

next year as in 15-16 or 16-17?

I would be surprised to see him at OU in 16-17 as if he is going to Med school he likely will have graduated in 4 years

Don't be so sure about Bola. He came in as a recruited walk on, meaning he was likely told he had a good chance to earn a scholarship. The key word is "earn" of course.

Having said that, I tend to agree that scholarships are too valuable to take a flyer on a kid who may never be good enough to play at a high level. While I was in support of giving a ship to C. J., I think our coaches have moved beyond bringing in recruits who are average players to recruiting a step or two above that level the past couple of years. I have no idea where Bola fits in that equation? He's one heck of an athlete who could develop into a player who can contribute at some point in his career.

I think if he had a chance to be a significant contributor down the line he would have gotten minutes on this team, where the bench was such a non-factor at times.

If I remember correctly, Bola suffered a pretty significant knee injury in HS. I imagine, as a walk-on, the fact they wanted to redshirt him shows me they like him and want to continue to evaluate him. A redshirt year really gives him a good solid year to fully recover and show the coaches how good he can be. No way he was ready in any fashion to help last season. However he could possibly contribute in time.
