Thoughts?

@Jake_Trotter: Ohio State has rented out the Lloyd Noble Center on Saturday for a pre-game pep rally, which is sold out

@Jake_Trotter: However, seating is on the Lloyd Noble floor, not in the stands. Ohio State says they sold all 800 tickets for the event.

I wouldnt let them... I think its crappy and a money grab.

Agree. Make them rent out NCED or Embassy Suites.

I hate they are doing it....

Someone said on another board they rented the LNC to Notre Dame as well.

It can't be that much money to make it worth it....unless tOSU offers the same thing next year in Columbus.

Maybe I'm just mellowing in my old age, but I don't mind it. No reason not to be civil with an opponent's fanbase outside the four hours of the game. It's not much different, seems to me, than a bunch of tailgating OU fans inviting some passing Buckeyes over for a beer and some barbecue, but on a larger scale.

I am more bothered by the damn PPV games than I am this reasonably friendly gesture. Talk about a money grab.

Idk how to feel about this.. but the ppv is absolutely ridiculous. Central OSU should have to do this. But we're a blueblood

agree. paying them 1.2 mill to play us, they wanted some of that money back!

My first thought was to not like it. I don't know if I do on second thought or not. I DO hate the PPV stuff, if this kind of thing would get better teams to come in without a 1.2m payout and have it on TV instead I say go for it.

Teams like ULM are at a distinct advantage especially since the power conference have placed scheduling restrictions on their members forcing them to play more FBS schools and fewer FCS schools. ULM is a FBS school.

OU has long been known for its scheduling top national opponents annually in their non-conference schedule. But just as we want to play an Ohio State annually we also want to play a FBS school that affords minimal opportunity to lose a game.

Hence schools like UML can demand because of the limited number of lower FBS schools top dollar to play them. This year they are playing OU and Auburn. Last year they played Georgia, Tulsa and Alabama. In 2014 they played LSU, Kentucky and aTm. Those big game pay checks is how they fund a major portion of their athletic department.

Because of supply and demand the $1.2 million is probably a very good deal for the Sooners. Of course we as fans would like to see an OU non-conference schedule Ohio State, UCLA and FSU quality teams but if you want to play for the CFP championship that is not going to happen. You are going to schedule to play quality but have a probability to win them all if you win your big non-conference game. It is what it is.

They've had this available for several years now. Anybody who wants can come in rent it. Notre Dame did and I'm sure some other big schools that travel have as well. It's just getting more attention this year for some reason...

Also, 'sold out' doesn't mean 11,000 Buckeye fans. They are setting up tables for 800 on the LNC court and serving them lunch.

If the LNC is as much a homecourt disadvantage as the consensus seems to be their fan base should be deflated by game time.

I have no problem with them renting LNC for a lunch and pep rally. I'm happy to get some revenue and was just common courtesy. It has absolutely zero impact on the game.

I hope they return the gesture next season when the Sooners travel to Columbus.

Stop it! Common practice.

Really surprised this is getting so much play. I'd hope other schools provide similar opportunities for opposing fan groups...
