I learned a long time ago to not let this board's rollercoaster mentality become my own....

Very early in the race. Like I said a few days ago, we will look great at times, and we will struggle far worse than we have yet this year. I'm just going to enjoy the progression, and not get too high, or too low... That's just me though.......

I think this is great...they played great in the first half with defensive pressure and aggressive, unselfish offense...they lost their intensity, then started to feel the pressure in the second half...this will help CLK keep their attention and emphasize what makes them good...I'm not terribly worried about the second half...I'll take this game...

And? We came out flat. Never got it going. Never got our energy back. And while our defense hasn't been very good, they've hit some fairly tough 3's. Not all of Pledger's makes were wide open. Sometimes shooters make tough shots. LK will teach them.

I'd dare say no one on this board thought OU would be playing for the championship. I sure didn't.

Man, I don't get some of the complaints on here...that first half was maybe the best half of basketball I've seen by an OU team in 2 years...I can't get over how much better these guys look. I'll take what I've seen through 4 games so far, especially considering they are looking better with each game, even though the opponents have gradually been getting better.

Now we get to play a pretty good, well-coached St. Louis team on Sunday night, and I'm not going to be nit picking them like we have championship aspirations...I'll take a win under any conditions...

And ... that's bad. It's bad to come out flat, but it's worse to never get your energy back. I didn't say our season was over; I said it was a lousy half, and it was.

I didn't expect us to extend our lead in the second half; heck, if you were to scroll back in this thread, you'd see that at the half, I was saying that UCSC would shoot better in the second half. I expected them to come back on us a little bit.

But they were within six with 45 seconds to go, and the way they were hitting threes (and we were missing 1 out of 2 free throws), the game was in doubt. That's not good in a game that we led by 23 at the half.

I'm pleased that we held them off and even extended the lead back out a little, but it should have never have gotten to that point.

And he did an excellent job of sliding over to help on penetration. He took at least 2 or 3 charges where he slid over to help, one of the most basic of defensive principles that were missing last year.....

He is going to get better, understanding what to do, where to be, and how to play with his physical limitations...:clap:clap
