3-4

Starters:

6-3 Soph F Maria Martianez 9.86 pts 7.71 reb
5-10 Jr F Faith Ihim 15.57 pts 7.86 reb
5-8 Jr G Lakota Beatty 13.20 pts 4.0 reb
5-6 Sr G Kaylan Mayberry 11.00 pts 3.29 reb 14 assists
5-10 Soph G Jordan Gilbert 6.14 pts 5.57 reb 11 assists

Mayberry shoots 35.48% from three, their only three-point shooter. Beatty shoots a lot of threes, but hits only 29%. As a team,, they shoot 35% from the field, 25% from three, and 60% from the line. Their opponents shoot slightly less from the field, and slightly more from three. On the season, their opponents have one more rebound and one more turnover. Close. There is nothing remarkable about Oral Roberts. Ihim shoots about 55%, but only 42% from the line.

2:00 Sunday.

ESPN box score showing Vivi, Little, Carter, Edwards, and Dungee as the starters...

Interestingly, neither Maddie nor Gabbi entered the game until around the two minute mark.

Aside from Gioya and Chelsea, we are shooting horribly off. Shots are not even close to going in. Peyton has taken two shots and has not hit rim. Maybe we are in our heads after our first loss?

At the end of the first, 11 Sooners have entered the game already

Some recruits at the game again. I think I recognize Jessi Mercer.

Have they said on broadcast what happened to Vivi? I know she started but wasn't on bench during second quarter.

OU offense is awful. No ball movement all dribbling, bad to watch

Maddie a bad dribbler another turnover. That is ball game.

Wow. Wowowowow. We spent the last 5 minutes of the 3rd and 4th quarters playing incredibly sloppily and timidly. We've been playing not to lose instead of playing to win.

The problem with this OU team is that there is no leader. There's not even a team captain! There's no one who demands the ball. There's no one who pulls the team aside and tells them they will refuse to lose. This problem is being veiled as depth, but it seems to me that they just don't have someone who is willing to differentiate themselves as a convicted winner.

ORU just went on an 18-0 run in our house on the 4th quarter. That is unacceptable. I've said it before, but we will not be competitive for a conference title again until we stop losing games we are supposed to win.

Can't disagree. This was a horrible effort. Didn't go to the rim. When we did go to the rim, we didn't finish. This was about the most pathetic effort I've seen from this team. Some people seem to be completely lost on teamwork. We should have killed them inside.. Instead, they killed us inside. They won the board battle 45-38, and they are terrible on the boards. We had 19 turnovers. Why? No pressure. Just silly.

Some of this loss should be on the coaches for keeping players on the floor who do nothing but dribble. Second qtr there was good passing and chemistry but after that it seemed to be "all about me" with the ball. I think Sherri needs to reconsider who is on the floor, what started out as a good season could go down the drain in a hurry if they don't get someone to take charge and be the floor general.

Obviously not having Vivi is not easy, and I'm really curious what happened. But we are also reminded again why you start Maddie. She needs to shoot more-- but she can take teams out early w her D and she's one of about three players that boards hard. You can go to the steal she lost in the end where she was out of control. But its the other things she does that are not in Dungees capabilities. I think Sherri was trying to send Maddie a message to score, and it probably lost us the game.

Dungee is a nice player, She will fill in for Gioya nicely- Next season. Why on earth would you mess w/ what we have now. Its like she is trying to stir up controversy- promote adversity- and it doesn't make sense to me because this team is already battled tested, from the two previous season- WHY. Its an overreaction to a bad 12 minutes in Lexington. She needs to show some stability, some control, and some confidence in our starting 5. It wouldn't surprise me if Vivi walked out and for exactly that reason.

I am also not sold on TT starting ether right now. Very wild at times- we need her to guard more athletic guards but, I don't believe she is a starter. And Gabbi is not comfortable as a backup. Ive defended Sherri at every turn but this one is on you Coach, imo. and this could be the game that loses us home court in the tourney too. I hope to see some control here on out.

I wonder how much of this was the starting lineup?

We had a decent lead in the third. It seemed that we began to take a lot of bad shots, early shots. Missed some layups.

But, we let some people go defensively. Beatty ---nobody challenged her for a while. But, for all of her rebounds, McKenna simply could not guard Martianez. She had 18, mostly late. We had one possession when the score was about tied in which we held them for 29 seconds, only to have Carter commit a foul with one second left. You could watch the air escape.

I think Sherri is too much in love with Gioya and T'Ona, and they are not good in a set defense. T'Ona isn't usually any good in a set offense. She was able to drive today on this team. That won't happen in the Big Twelve.

+1
And, I put this on Sherri as well.

Very good points. TT is not good in a set offense- I don't think Gabbi is an all time great point guard, but she does okay in a set. We need TT, but we don't need her to start, and I have said I before thought she was a starter- but she's not.

Gabbi also has a knack for hitting big shots and killing draughts. Something we could of used today

Right now, I would be going with:

Vivi
Maddie
Peyton
Chelsea
Gabbi

EJ, Nancy, TT, and Gioya would be kind of first off the bench. I would have taken a better look at Penzo. Gioya can't play defense, and her working with a team is inadequate.

I personally think we should just stick with the original 5, assuming Vivi didn't quit- And let everyone grow into their roles off the bench. Theres something about continuity, and comfort. Those 5 are comfortable together. They got us ranked 12th in the country, why mess w/ that?

though I do agree, Gioya's Defense is lax at times. I wouldn't change a thing. Its like Coach gets bored some times and trys to do something genius, but we just need complete stability and confidence right now.

Pffft. Choke job by our team. Seniors missing shots, had 3 straight and 4 out of 5 (I think) that missed the rim. Either we had a bad week of practice, and ran the legs off the team, or we have seniors who have regressed in confidence and poise over their career.
PS I don't know if we have 5 starters. We have a bunch of role players, but other than Peyton, no one-NO ONE-has looked like they deserve a starting spot after a bad game.
Same with coaching-we now need to see what they can do NOW with this team.
